Bafetimbi Gomis may yet sign a contract extension after all

Speaking in a press conference today before Lyon’s weekend clash with Valenciennes, Bafetimbi Gomis admitted he ‘has not closed the door on Lyon’ and would be ready for contract extension negotiations. In full below:

‘Extend with Lyon? I have thought about it. There is always this thing I must consider which is how can I get into the French national team for this summer. There were times this summer were I did not feel alive, scoring goals and having dialogue with the supporters and it has changed.’

‘So there you go, I am not closing the door on Lyon. But I refuse to turn the page a forget about what happened in the past. The President and I have continued pleasant dialogue, and I will say it again, he is a great President and so I must listen to him.’

‘He has not always done bad things for me, only God knows how much he has supported me when I first started out at Lyon, when I was having difficult times.’

Bafetimbi Gomis’ agent’s latest comments to Tuttomercatoweb would suggest otherwise:

‘I do not know where these AS Roma rumours are coming from. I have talked with them and they told me my client was not a priority of theirs for the moment.’

‘We are talking with several clubs in the Premier League at the moment who would be willing to meet Bafe’s €2.5m a year salary. We shall see what happens. At the moment Italy looks unlikely, but everything can change.’
