Several developments have emerged today regarding the transfer situation of Etienne Capoue.
It is general knowledge that Toulouse on Tuesday had already accepted a proposal from Cardiff for their prized defensive midfielder which amounted to €12m overall. The player initially refused to negotiate with the Premier League side but was then advised to listen to what the Welsh outfit had to offer to him.
It is understood that Etienne Capoue is awaiting Spanish side Atletico Madrid to match Cardiff’s €12m offer as he has already had advanced contract talks with the Spanish side who missed out on their initial defensive midfield target Jeremy Toulalan when he was snapped up by Monaco. There are concerns that the Atletico may not be willing to pay €12m for the player however.
A recent development is the interest from Serie A side Fiorentina who have lodged an official enquiry as to how much the player would cost them.
The player has listened to Cardiff’s provisional contract offer but he wants to stall for as long as possible.
