After the departure of Chris Mavinga to Rubin Kazan for €3m, Rennes will complete the signing of Toulouse’s full back Cheikh MBengue today.
The player had been heavily linked with Sunderland this transfer window but Philippe Montanier needed to sign a full back before the window was closed. L’Equipe understood yesterday that the player rejected terms with Rennes and it is believed that the player was satisfied when they returned with a higher salary offer. Toulouse will receive €3.5m including bonuses for the player.
Although the length of his contract is so far unknown, Rennes have put the player through medical tests today and we will hope to know the full details before the day is up.
