RMC report that Lille have received two fresh bids for troubled attacking midfielder Florian Thauvin, both worth €10m plus €2m in bonuses. One is from Marseille and the other from Premier League side Newcastle.
This is Marseille’s third offer for a player they have been obsessed with all transfer window. Newcastle have entered the fray at a very late stage and will face difficulties in signing the player.
Florian Thauvin wants a move to Marseille, with a source close to the player’s camp claiming ‘there is only one club for him’.
Lille would prefer to sell the player abroad but Thauvin will, barring a crazy turnaround, refuse to sign anywhere else other than Marseille.
Neither offer reaches Lille’s €15m asking price and it remains to be seen whether or not they will actually accept either offer on the table.
Le Parisien understands that Marseille President Vincent Labrune will meet with Lille’s President Michel Seydoux tomorrow to try and broker a deal.
Seydoux now has leverage since Newcastle have made an identical bid for the player and will use this to try and make Marseille offer closer to the €15m evaluation.
