The President of Lyon Jean Michel Aulas told Canal + yesterday that he has received ‘several offers’ for striker Bafetimbi Gomis as we near the January transfer window.
‘An offer for Bafetimbi Gomis from West Ham? It is not impossible as we have received several offers for Bafé recently.’
Get French Football News understands that Stoke City have made contact with Lyon regarding the possible transfer of Gomis, but we are unable to confirm the Daily Mirror’s reports that West Ham United have also made contact.
Jean Michel Aulas added; ‘It is true that while I am not 100% aware of all the specifics, I know several offers have been made for Gomis, like last year.’
Italian media reports that AS Roma and Fiorentina are interested in acquiring the services of the player, who’s preference is a move to the Bundesliga.
Newcastle United are also believed to be on alert after narrowly missing out on the French international last summer because of the Premier League side’s inability to agree wages with Gomis.
Get French Football News also understands that several sides in Russia, notably Rubin Kazan have registered interest in the player for this January.
After Jean Michel Aulas’ comments last night it is becoming increasing unlikely that Gomis will be signing a contract extension, despite the player’s claims he would consider doing so last week.
