Ligue 1 Live: 09/11/13

21:00: So, with that, it is time for me to say goodbye. We may only have seen 5 goals this evening, but there were stories to be told from every game. Until next time, Au Revoir!

20:54: Overview: There were only 5 goals in all today, but there was plenty of drama. 10 man Guingamp claimed a well deserved point against Lille, 10 man Montpellier snatched an equaliser at the death against Valenciennes, Lorient and Reims played out a goalless draw, Ajaccio clung on for their life against a Toulouse onslaught to get a point and Bastia won a tightly fought game against Rennes.

20:52: FULL TIME: Guingamp 0-0 Lille, VAFC 1-1 Montpellier, Lorient 0-0 Reims, Toulouse 1-1 Ajaccio, Bastia 1-0 Rennes.

20:48: GOAL: Valenciennes 1-1 Montpellier. The 10 men of Montpellier snatch an equaliser at the death! Stambouli rises highest from a corner to power into the back of the net. This would be a great result for the away side, considering they were a goal and a man down.

20:45: Mandanne comes off to a standing ovation for Guingamp – he has put a real shift in today. We are well into the last 5 minutes in all games.

20:42: Great chance for De Preville to surely win the game for Reims, but he blazes over from the right. He should have at least hit the target.

20:40: Red Card: We have a third red of the day, and this time it is Guingamp who are down to 10. It is captain Mathis who is sent off, which is horribly unfortunate for the home side, who were playing some very nice football. Lille now have a great chance to win this game.

20:37: As weird as it seems, Guingamp are dominating Lille – in the second half it has been a one-sided game. However, Guignamp have nothing to show for their dominance, and we all know what can happen when you don’t take your chances against top teams…

20:36: Final 10: We are into the last 10 minutes in all 5 games now, and they are all still in the balance. The red cards for Lorient and Montpellier give Reims and Valenciennes respectively the advantage, but can they make use of the extra man?

20:34: Red Card: Lorient go down to 10 as well, with Barthelmé the man to be sent off. Reims must be favourites for the win now, but still 0-0 as it stands.

20:30: Red Card: Montpellier are down to 10 men, and it is Delpagne who is given his marching orders. They looked a much improved team in the second half, but this red card will really make their job a lot harder. VAFC still 1-0 up.

20:27: The weather conditions are horrible all over France today, so perhaps that explains the lack of goals today. Admittedly, the conditions make it very hard to string a good set of passes together.

20:25: Close: Good chance for Aboubakar to open the scoring for Lorient, but Fofana gets a good block in to stop the shot and defect it away for a corner.

20:22: Toulouse really pressing against Ajaccio now, looking to find the goal that would take them ahead. It feels like it is only a matter of time until it comes, but Ajaccio are doing their best to hold on.

20:19: Bastia have been untroubled since the second half began, and are still holding their narrow 1-0 advantage over Rennes.

20:17: Close: Almost a brilliant goal from Aboubakar! Agassa punches a Lorient corner to Aboubakar on the edge of the box, and he sends a brilliant first touch chip towards goal, only for it to be cleared off the line! This game is coming to life!

20:14: Reims almost catch Lorient out on the counter, but just as the ball is dropping nicely to Oniangué on the edge of the box, Abdullah clears it out for a corner… And from that corner Guerreiro clears off the line! Great defending there.

20:10: Bizzare scenes in the Guingamp game as the ref appears to play a one-two with a Guingamp player down the wing?! It leads to a Guingamp corner, but they can make nothing of their good fortune.

20:08: Disallowed goal: Congré thinks that he has just equalised for Montpellier from a header, but as he is celebrating he sees the linesman’s flag is up on the far side. Good decision to from the assistant, Congré was at least 3 yards offside.

20:07: It looks like Lille have a game on today, Guingamp are playing some really nice stuff out there.

20:03: No changes for Montpellier at the break, but if they keep playing like they did in the first half I can see that changing very quickly.

20:00: KICK OFF: We are back underway in all 5 games!

19:55: So, at half time all 5 games are in the balance! Toulouse will be happy with their response after going 1-0 down against Ajaccio, while Montpellier and Rennes have had little to shout about. Guingamp are doing well to contain Lille, but Lorient vs Reims is yet to really kick into gear. Second half coming up shortly.

19:47: HALF TIME: Guingamp 0-0 Lille, VAFC 1-0 Montpellier, Lorient 0-0 Reims, Toulouse 1-1 Ajaccio, Basta 1-0 Rennes.

19:45: Close: Oh dear, what a miss from Lille’s Kalou! The goal was gaping, he was less than 5 yards out, had a completely free header and inexplicably blazed over the bar. That was an absolute stinker.

19:43: GOAL: Toulouse 1-1 Ajaccio. Toulouse finally get the equaliser that their play deserved, and it is Sylla who gets the goal. He immediately takes the ball out of the goal and places it back on the centre circle – Toulouse know they are on the up.

19:38: Close: Toulouse are really pressing for an equaliser, and almost get it, but Ochoa makes a brilliant save low to his right to keep Ajaccio ahead.

19:36: Close: Huge chance for Guingamp to take the lead against Lille! Yatabare goes sliding in to meet a cross from the right, but cannot get enough on the shot to direct it towards goal! Best chance of the game so far.

19:34: Lille cranking up the pressure on Ndy Assembe’s goal, and they have a couple of half chances from a free-kick and a corner. Nothing sticks, though, and Guingamp cling on.

19:30: Montpellier have been poor so far today. Cabella the latest culprit as he fails to clear the first man with his free-kick. Valenciennes good value for their lead.

19:28: Chance for Toulouse from a free-kick… Chantome behind it… but it hits the wall and goes out for a corner.

19:26: Rennes piling on the pressure now against Bastia, but a third successive corner comes to nothing for the away side.

19:24: You have to feel that Toulouse are playing Ajaccio at the worst possible time. After Ravanelli’s sacking this time last week, the players have a lot to prove and really look up for this game.

19:21: Neither side out of Guingamp and Lille have had a chance of note. Mind you, if Enyeama is in the same form he was in last week, it could be a very difficult night for Yatabaré and co. for Guingamp.

19:18: Close: Lorient, who are really taking control of this game, go close to opening the scoring. Barthelmé is sent clear by Aboubakar, but a Reims defender gets in a great block.

19:15: Decent chance for Rennes to reply almost immediately, but that man Landreau is off his line quickly to gather the ball in front of the striker.

19:13: Still 0-0 in Guingamp, where it is a rather scrappy affair, and in Lorient. Judging by the other 3 games though, don’t expect it to stay like that for long.

19:10: GOAL: Bastia 1-0 Rennes. The home side are in the lead within 10 minutes. It is Bruno who has given Bastia the perfect start. The goals are flying in in Ligue 1!

19:08: GOAL: Toulouse 0-1 Ajaccio. The struggling away side, who sacked their manager a week ago, are in the lead! Toulouse made the brighter start but they are punished by Lasne.

19:07: GOAL: Valenciennes 1-0 Montpellier. The home team open the scoring so early on! Disastrous start for Montpellier as Angoua grabs the goal!

19:04: First decent chance of the day goes to Toulouse. Chantome with a speculative shot from the edge of the box, but it sails comfortably over the bar. Ajaccio were unhappy as they felt there was a foul in the build up.

19:02: Tentative starts all round. No chances to speak of as of yet, all teams are trying to make a steady start to the game.

19:00: KICK OFF: We are underway in all 5 games now!

18:57: Just 3 minutes to go until kick-off now. We have some interesting matches today, not least Guingamp vs Lille. The home side will look to recover from the loss against Lyon last time out, while the away side will hope to continue their excellent defensive form this season.
