FT: Reims 1-0 Rennes: The away side threw everything at Reims in the second half but could not find a goal. Their poor form continues. A vital three points for Reims, who go clear of relegation for the moment.
FT: Montpellier 1-1 Troyes: Another European hopeful side dropped points. Troyes could have won it late on as well. A great point for the away side, who need many more if they want to stay up. 17 year Jean scored again.
FT: Sochaux 1-1 Valenciennes: Sochaux the better team, particularly in the first half. They missed key chances and were punished. It leaves them in the relegation zone still.
FT: Lille 1-2 Evian: A Govou knee injury late on overshadows a great win for Evian. Lille poor. Kalou has a dreadful game after his earlier goal. Missed a penalty and scored an OG. Lille still around Europe, but dropped points in what should have been an easy win.
FT: Lorient 4-0 Brest: Lorient keep their European hopes alive with a fantastic win in the derby. Brest awful and back in the relegation scramble, as those around them picked up points.
20:47: Govou coming off with what looks like a serious knee injury at Lille for Evian at the age of 33, that could be his career over. We wish him well
20:47: Lille, Montpellier and Rennes dropping points today. Looks like a race between St Etienne, Nice and Marseille for third.
20:45: It might be a derby, but it has not been much of a contest. Brest limp and lacking in ideas from the start. Lorient president @LoicFery delighted. Mexican wave going around the ground
20:44: Rennes still attacking in Reims, but time is running out, as we move into added time. Would be a fantastic result for the home side. Still 1-0
20:40: GOAL VALENCIENNES: Sochaux will rue missed chances. They have hit the post three times, but Valenciennes have come back into this game more and more. Substitute Nguette levels the scores. The away side will look to push for a winner here. 1-1
20:38: GOAL LORIENT: Substitute Sunu fires home from the edge of the box with a good effort across the keeper. Thebaux could not do anything this time. The Ex Arsenal man has wrapped things up here. Lorient have been brilliant. Now Lorient 4-0 Brest
20:37: Penalty shout for Valenciennes, as Pujol goes down in the box. He went down a bit theatrically, but Valenciennes have a case. They have been much better this half, but Sochaux still lead 1-0
20:35: Nivet with a great chance to put Troyes ahead against Montpellier, but he can only put it wide. Its been a very poor second half for Montpellier. They have been dreadful. 1-1
20:35: Fresh legs being brought on around the grounds as we enter the final 10 minutes
20:34: Rennes keep wasting free kicks. Need to do better to get their side back into the match. Still 1-0 Reims
20:32: Kalou completely blazes that penalty over the bar. How will the player repond. Do not forget that he won that penalty in the first place.
20:29: PENALTY LILLE: It is that man Kalou who has won it. Been heavily involved so far. MISSED PENALTY: Kalou misses with a poor spot kick. What a bad five minutes its been from the EX-Chelsea man. Still 1-2
20:27: Pitroipa heads just wide after a good ball in from Danze. The visitors are getting closer and closer. Reims hanging on for dear life.
20:25 GOAL EVIAN: Its a Kalou own goal. The player heads past the helpless Elana. He has now scored at both ends. Evian lead now. Lille 1-2 Evian. Would be a very poor result for Lille
20:21: Valenciennes have been the better team since the break against Sochaux. Remember what i said about missed chances. Still Sochaux 1-0 Valenciennes
20:17: So close for Rennes. Ex-West Ham man Alou Diarra strikes the post with a effort. Pitropia fired over a few minutes earlier as well. Rennes pushing for a goal, but Reims still dangerous. Reims 1-0 Rennes
20:14: Should be four for Lorient. Both Quercia and Jouffre fail to attack a ball in. Woould have been a certain goal if they had. Still Lorient 3-0 Brest. Brest bring Benschop on for Ayite as their final change
20:09: GOAL TROYES: As much as his general play is not developed enough, 17 year old Corentin Jean scores goals. It is his 3rd in 2 games and this one puts Troyes back on level terms with Montpellier. Great play from Captain Marcos in the build up. Troyes need a win if theywant to stay up realistically. Montpellier 1-1 Troyes
20:07: Brest have had all of the ball so far in this second half against Lorient, but have not had a shot yet. At least the changes are doing something. Still 3-0
20:06: Lesoimier and Toure are on for Gueye and Raspentino at half time. Brest looking to do something to change this game. Already over you would reckon
20:02: We are back underway around the grounds
So goals in every single Ligue 1 game at Half time.
HT: Reims 1-0 Rennes: The away side have probably been the better side, but find themselves behind. They have been poor ever since Alessandrini’s injury a few weeks back. Would be a fantastic result for Reims.
HT: Sochaux 1-0 Valenciennes: Flat is a good word to describe the away side’s performance so far. They have created nothing and not had a shot on target. Sochuax have been brilliant. They have attacked at pace and caused real trouble. They have missed real chances though and one hopes they dont rue them in 45 minutes time.
HT: Montpellier 1-0 Troyes: Montpellier have dominated. After opening the scoring, Utaka really should have put them two ahead. He did not, however, and Troyes struck the bar through Jarjat. They once again have been weak. Jean simply not experienced enough to play a key role as the main striker.
HT: Lille 1-1 Evian: A disappointing half for the home side. They have been the better side, but Evian had a good 10 minutes and managed to find a way back into the match. Not the best game so far. Hoping for better in the second half
HT: Lorient 3-0 Brest: A brilliant display from the home side. Brest blown away. They have been very poor to be fair and look to be heading back into the relegation scramble tonight. They deserve it tonight. Lorient have been first to everything. Brest just look like they would rather be in bed.
19:45: Lorient man Lautoa has had to come off the field due to an injury he has picked up. Its a shame. He had been very good so far. Reale on in his place. Monnet-Paquet heads just wide from a corner in the next attack. All Lorient
19:43: Sochaux have had too good chances through Bakumbu in the last 3 minutes. He didn’t score either of them, but it could be 4 or 5. Will Sochaux be left to rue missed chances. So often this season have we seen sides blow up in the second half. Still Sochaux 1-0 Valenciennes
19:39: GOAL LORIENT: This game looks well and truly over now. Lorient 3-0 Brest. The ball pulled back to the edge of the box from a corner, which Lautoa hits. Good hit, but the keeper, once again should have done better. Thebaux has been at fault for all three of the goals. Three points in the bag for Gourcuff’s men.
19:38: Troyes have had a real chance in the last five minutes, Jarjat rose high in the box and headed the ball powerfully against the bar. Real chance. Signs of life from Troyes, but Montpellier still dominating.
19:32: GOAL REIMS: Against the run of play, the home side have taken the lead against Rennes. Fofana heads home the ball, which came into the box via a long ball from Devaux. 1-0. Reims and Sochaux winning. Both heading away from trouble at the moment.
19:30: Baca shoots for Lorient. Once again Brest keeper Thebaux can only parry, only this time, there is nobody to follow up with a goal. Been poor so far Thebaux…
19:30: GOAL EVIAN: Khalifa equalises for the visitors, after he was played through by Barbosa. Good finish. Lille need to respond now. Evian have come back into this game in the last 5 minutes and have managed to get themselves a goal. Lille 1-1 Evian
19:28: Danic takes Valenciennes’ first shot of the night. Its a pile-driver from 30 years, Only just over, but it shows how well Sochuax are doing at keeping the away side out the the game. Still 1-0. The away side have not really looked the same since Christmas
19:27: Lille keeper Elana makes a good save from Khalifa. Was not as easy as he made it look. First chance for Evian. Still 1-0
19:25: Utaka is played through by Belhanda for Montpellier, but his strike goes wide. Real chance. Not sure they will be too concerned though. It is looking like they will get plenty more. Still Montpellier 1-0 Troyes
19:22: Sochaux have been fabulous so far against Valenciennes. Although they have had less possession, they are really taking the game to the away side, with pace and good accurate passing. Boudebouz energetic as always down the right. Still 1-0
19:20: Licka has a good chance to put Brest back in the match away at Lorient. He is player through, but Audard is quickly out to smother. Been a great game so far. Still 2-0
19:18: In terms of the game without any goals, Rennes have been the better team away at Reims. They have had more possession and are controlling the game at the moment. It is a must win game for both sides, with Rennes pushing for Europe and Reims hanging just above relegation. With Sochaux winning, they would be even closer to that relegation zone tonight though
19:16: Lorient have impressed all season. They go on the break again here and win a corner. They have an element of pace to their game now. Their players look fitter than those at Brest
19:15: It looks like it is only a matter of time before Montpellier get another one. It is all them. Troyes cant get the ball and Montpellier are splitting their defense apart so easily. Montpellier really starting to find form, but is it too late for the Champions League?
19:10 GOAL LORIENT: It is two already. Lorient 2-0 Brest. Monnet Paquet cuts inside and takes a shot, which once again, Thebaux can only parry. It falls to Jouffre to tuck home.
19:08: GOAL SOCHAUX: A Bakambu shot hits the bar, but not to worry. Minutes later, Boudeboux opens the scoring for the home side in this must win game. Sochaux playing with speed and Valenciennes can not cope. Sochaux 1-0 Valenciennes
19:08: GOAL MONTPELLIER: What a start to this evening. Charbonnier fires home to put bottom club Troyes behind early on. Montpellier 1-0 Troyes
19:07: GOAL LILLE: Ligue 1 has started well this saturday evening. Lille go a goal up through Ex-Chelsea man Kalou, after a pass from right back Sidibe. Lille 1-0 Evian
19:02: GOAL LORIENT: The ball comes across the box from Corgnet, which Thebaux can only parry out for Quercia to tap home. Lorient 1-0 Brest. What a start for the home side in this derby match. They have won their last 5 meeting with Brest and at this rate, it looks like being another.
19:00 We are underway around the grounds.
Must win games for Rennes, Montpellier, Lille and Lorient in their pursuit of a European place. Sochaux, Reims and Evian, however all need points in the relegation scrap. Time is also running out for Troyes to save themselves from the drop. All this means that the games are likely to be hard fought and competitive tonight. Earlier: Bastia 4-1 Lyon: The Corsicans managed to produce a shock result and embarrass Lyon. Bastia were brilliant, particularly Thauvin, who is now starting to show why there was so much interest in him before his move to Lille. A great team performance throughout. Lyon were awful. If PSG win tomorrow, the title is surely theirs.
