20.59: That is all from myself, Christian Nourry, for today. Controversy and shocks aplenty from those 5 games, we hope you enjoyed the coverage! If you haven’t already, give us a follow on Twitter: @GFN_France.
FT: Nancy 2-1 Lorient. A frustrating day out for Les Merlus, who played the better football but it was Nancy who grinded out the win tonight, ever so slightly increasing their minimal chances of staying up this season. Puygrenier got the winner, but there was controversy in the build up where it looked as if Audard, the Lorient keeper was fouled.
FT: Montpellier 2-0 Sochaux. Unfortunately the away side were unable to continue their 100% start to 2013, as they were overwhelmed by a solid MHSC side, scoring to very well worked goals. Arguably, the Sochaux keeper should’ve done better for the second, and if Privat had been playing perhaps Sochaux may have taken some of their early opportunities in the 1st half.
FT: Evian 1-1 Ajaccio. Exciting game which was embroiled in controversy in the last minute when the home side had a goal disallowed for a dubious hand ball. Ajaccio’s two new recruits Chalme and Oliech looked impressive, with the latter scoring on his debut.
FT: Troyes 2-1 Brest. ESTAC have their 3rd of the season and they certainly deserve it after coming out in the right spirits in this feisty affair. The last 2o minutes were nervy for the home side, but they pulled through against an uninspiring Brest side.
FT: Reims 1-1 Toulouse. Despite having the edge, Toulouse were unable to take 3 points today after a well taken goal from Krychiowiak cancelled out Capoue’s powerful opener. Important point for Reims, who have been in trouble lately.
20.46: Normal time is over, into added time around the grounds!
20.43: Impressive how Nancy have shut Lorient out here, who, as ever, continue to play their intricate football. Nancy fans must be thinking ‘Haidara who?’
20.38: A nervy last 10 minutes in store for Troyes as they look to hold on to their 2-1 lead over Brest. Brest may be dominant but no clear cut chance.
20:35: We come again to Reims where MBengue has just cleared an effort off the line. Really open now, Toulouse were lucky there.
20.32: Great chance for Toulouse to immediately react and take the lead again. Capoue plays a lovely 25 yard pass to Ben Yedder who tries to chip Placide and gets it wrong. 1-1.
20.30: GOAL: Reims 1-1 Toulouse (Krychowiak). The midfielder drills a volley from outside the area through the Toulouse defence, taking a nick on the way in wrong footing Ahamada. 1-1.
20.28: GOAL: A messy corner, with Nancy players stamping all over Audard, has seen the ball somehow end up at the feet of centre-back and Captain Puygrenier who puts it away from 4 yards. 2-1.
20.27: GOAL: Nancy 2-1 Lorient (Puygrenier)
20.23: YELLOW CARD: Jeremie Aliadiere gets over excited trying to reach the rebound of Jouffre’s free kick and chops down a Nancy player in the process.
20.21: Grange, the Nancy midfielder who made me witness the worst miss I have ever seen earlier, has just smashed it so high that I think it might have even surpassed row Z. Still 1-1 against Lorient.
20.19: A deflected Evian freekick forces Ochoa of Ajaccio to make a very agile save. 1-1 over there.
20.18: Great free kick from Tabanou of Toulouse, but Placide is there low at the near post to stop it for a corner.
20.16: GOAL: Brest have one back through their talisman Ben Basat. He is put through on goal and does well to score from a tight angle. Questions should be asked of the ESTAC keeper though.
20.15: GOAL: Troyes 2-1 Brest (Ben Basat)
20.11: GOAL: Reims 0-1 Toulouse (Capoue): Lovely jinking play from Tabanou into the area and the ball falls to Capoue who blasts it home.
20.10 GOAL: Evian 1-1 Ajaccio (Wass) The Evian player manages to get his head to the ball before the two centre backs just outside the box and Ochoa, the Ajaccio keeper, stupidly comes out to try and stop it. A weak header which floats into the back of the net.
20.10: GOAL: Darbion has hit an absolute belter from about 25 yards out after a simply lay off from Camus. They have doubled their lead here Troyes, and absolutely deserve it.
20.09: GOAL: Troyes 2-0 Brest (Darbion)
20.07: GOAL: Stunning goal from Jeremie Aliadiere, who, starting from the left wing, goes on a mazy run beating 3 Nancy defenders and roles it past the keeper. 1-1.
20.06: GOAL Nancy 1-1 Lorient (Aliadiere)
20.03: Honestly never seen a worse miss in my life. Nancy’s Grange is completely away down the left hand side against Lorient on the counter attack. Acres of space, loads of time and scuffs it high into row Z.
20.02: SUBSTITUTION: Lorient: Ludovic Giuly replaces Maxime Baca.
20.01: Troyes have started this 2nd half really well against Brest. Nivet has a chance near the penalty spot but a defender got the block in.
20.00: We are underway in the 2nd halves!
OFFICIAL: Juventus have announced the signing of 33 year old Nicolas Anelka on a 5 month contract.
HT: Reims 0-0 Toulouse. Reims’ missed penalty might well have been their only chance of the half to be honest. Neither side really look up for the game, Sissoko is missed for the away side. Tabanou is still looking dangerous though.
HT: Montpellier 2-0 Sochaux. After a great start from Sochaux, they simple weren’t able to take their chances and two wonderfully worked team goals have probably already won Montpellier this game. Herrera’s goal is one to watch if you get the chance.
HT: Evian 0-1 Ajaccio. The Corsicans lead thanks to some incompetence from loan signing Betao who practically handed them the goal. A scrappy game which hasn’t seen many clear cut chances.
HT: Nancy 1-0 Lorient. Nancy have the lead, and Lorient will be wondering how. Monnet Paquet and Bartheleme have been through on goal again and again but the Nancy keeper is standing firm. Expect FCL to get back into this. Nancy must sit tight now.
HT: Troyes 1-0 Brest. The home side absolutely deserve their lead. They have fought harder than this lacklustre Brest side who have had hardly an chances. Ben Basat has been particularly disappointing. Question was always whether Troyes would have the quality to score and Camus’ bit of luck has done just that.
19.45: Great chance for Nancy to double their lead through Karaboue, who somewhat snatches at his chance in the penalty area sending it wide.
19.45: GOAL: A free kick comes in from Camus and it is simply unstoppable. An attempted cross from far out on the right sails into the top right corner beating the Brest keeper. 1-0.
19.44: GOAL: Troyes 1-0 Brest (Camus)
19.43: Chance after chance after chance for Lorient. Monnet-Paquet and Barthelme have been through on goal time and time again, but can’t get past Theboux.
19.40: PENALTY SAVED: Ahamada is able to save the pemalty which is sent in low by Courtet. Poor pen. Decent save. Still 0-0.
19.36: GOAL: Nancy are able to capitalise on a defensive mishap from Lorient, who have been brilliant all half, but Efoulou opens his body up and fires an unstoppable shot past Audard.
19.39: PENALTY TO REIMS
19.36: GOAL Nancy 1-0 Lorient (Efoulou)
19.35: GOAL: The Kenyan has a goal on his debut for Ajaccio after a terrible defensive mishap by Betao. Corsicans lead Evian.
19.34: GOAL Evian 0-1 Ajaccio (Oliech)
19.34: GOAL: Montpellier double their lead after an appalling clearance from the Sochaux centre-back, the ball comes across down the left hand side and Bedimo slides Utaka in who jinks two defenders and tucks it away.
19.33: GOAL: Montpellier 2-0 Sochaux (Utaka)
19.26: GOAL: Montpellier are 1-0 up thanks to a Herrera volley after a lovely 1 to 2 with Camara. Harsh on Sochaux.
19.25: GOAL: Montpellier 1-0 Sochaux (Herrera).
19.23: You have to say, Sochaux are out playing Montpellier at the moment. Jourdren has been MHSC’s saviour so far. You do think that perhaps Privat may have got a goal by now if he wasn’t on the bench…
19.22: We are still waiting for our first goal! #Ligue1
19.21: Another great chance for Monnet-Paquet to put Lorient up against Nancy. He’s through on goal from angle, but the Nancy keeper gets a hand to it and puts it out for a corner.
19.20: STAT: Evian are the only Ligue 1 side not to have scored in 2013.
19.19: A fairly settled game between Reims and Toulouse. The away side are missing Sissoko and the ability to penetrate the oppositiong midfield. Still 0-0.
19.16: Massive chance in Troyes. ESTAC’s Darbion puts the ball in and the Brest keeper punches it out, but the ball is put back in and 3 Troyes players miss the ball and the 4th somehow puts it wide. Should be 1 up.
19.12: Big moment in Montpellier. Sochaux’s Bakambu is through on goal and Jourdren the MHSC keeper jumps at him stopping him from getting to the ball. The keeper gets a yellow but should probably have been a red. Was outside the area.
19.10: Great chance for Monnet-Paquet to take the lead for Lorient at Nancy. He recieves a through ball, but his touch is too heavy 1 on 1 against the keeper.
19.08: Chance for Reims against Toulouse, the ball comes in from the left hand side but Ben Basat can only head at Ahamada. 0-0.
19:07: Montpellier with the corner…..Sochaux’s keeper Pouplin easily lays claim. MHSC with the upper hand at the moment.
19:05: Feisty start here in Troyes, can see the cards coming out shortly. Brest trying to move the ball about with urgency, but nothing has come of it yet.
19:03: Toulouse have started well in Reims, but no real chances as of yet. Cheik MBengue, the full back has today announced he will remain with the club at least until the end of the season by the way.
19:00 We are underway!
18:55: 5 minutes until kick off around the grounds! Any predictions? Tweet us!
18:40: Despite being told he can leave the club, Morgan Amalfitano played an important part for Marseille today in their 2-2 draw with Rennes.
18:38: We can confirm that Bordeaux have made some sort of approach for young forward Diego Rolan, currently plays for Defensor Sporting Club, as they look for a replacement for Yoan Gouffran.
18:31: Interesting to see both Dynamo Kiev loanees, Betao and Ninkovic get to start for Evian tonight. From what we’ve seen, Ninkovic can cause plenty of problems down that left hand side.
18:23: Lorient welcome back centre-back Bruno Ecuele-Manga from a long term injury. Just his 2nd appearance this season. Had been so influential last season.
18:13: Sochaux XI to face Montpellier: Pouplin, Corchia, Kante, Mikari, Contout, Peybernes, Sauget (c), Carlao, Dias, Roudet, Bakambu.

17:51: FT: Rennes 2-2 Marseille. Rennes’ dominance in the 1st half meant they probably merited the point here. For Marseille it is 2 points dropped in an ever-intiguing title race thanks to a Mandanda howler. All eyes on PSG tomorrow.
17:50: You have to say, new signing and Marseille’s reserve keeper Brice Samba must have loved watching that Rennes’ equaliser. Horrendous error from Mandanda.
17:44: Currently: Rennes 2-2 Marseille. Marseille will be thankful to whomever the selectors for Ghana’s AFCON squad were as the Ayew brothers have bagged themselves each goal. Rennes largely have the fantastic winger Romain Alessandrini for the goals and he was indeed the scorer of the equaliser. Game on!
17:36: @GFN_France on Twitter: Best breakthrough talent in Ligue 1 this season: Romain #Alessandrini.
16:59: The 2nd half of today’s early kick off set to begin shortly. Follow @FrenchFTWeekly on Twitter for the latest updates in that one between Rennes and Marseille. By the sounds of it, Rennes were in fact dominant in the 1st half, but it was OM who went in at half time on top thanks to Andre Ayew. Currently: Rennes 0-1 Marseille.
16:57 GMT: So another busy week in French Football has been and gone. Newcastle have raided Ligue 1, and taken with them some of the finest talent for virtually nothing.
