An Note from the Editor:
Season Greetings to you all! I thought I would take this brief opportunity just to reach out to you all and update you on the goings-on here at Get French Football News as we come to the end of the calendar year.
What a year it has been for the Get French Football News Team. 2013 has been a year of immense growth for GFFN, something we are incredibly proud of.
Our Twitter following grew by around 1600% over the past 12 months and after a difficult period in between March and June as serious renovation work occurred at getfootballnewsfrance.com; in early November of this year we managed to reach 500,000 views on our website over a period of 8 months of it being operational.
Highlights in the GFFN calendar included the collaborating with 30 like-minded French football experts to vote and come to an agreement on the GFFN Ligue 1 Team of the Season 2012-2013. This panel included some of the most reputable French football journalists, alongside some professional players and seasoned bloggers.
We continue to meet and interact with some of the most interesting people in French football, interviewing tens of personalities this year including Loic Fery, Yacouba Sylla, Sidney Govou and El Hadji Ba to name but a few.
Our 42 page Ligue 1 Season Guide for 2013-2014 required a lot of time and effort but was extremely well received by the French football community on both sides of the Channel. Something we will no doubt look to repeat in 2014.
The summer of 2013 also saw the launch of our Get French Football News Show, a sort of off-season series of podcasts reflecting on the 2012-2013 season and looking forward to the one we currently find ourselves embroiled in. I very much enjoyed reflecting on what has occurred and looking forward to what is to come in one of the most rapidly growing football countries in the world alongside some very talented individuals.
On the transfer side of things we are in the fortunate position of being able to collaborate with some of the big players in the French football transfer market, and from this we have been able to build a growing number of contacts in 2013 to ensure we deliver you the latest French Football transfer news first. With the January window just around the corner, make sure you choose to follow our 24/7 coverage of what is certain to be a surprising and enthralling 31 days of action.
There is also an announcement to be made. I am delighted to declare that a new Get French Football News publication will be available to you soon: the GFFN 100. This comprises of our selection of the top 100 talents that French football currently has to offer you, judged solely on their performances in 2013. We will provide you with in depth analysis on each of the one hundred players to make this list, making this our largest and most ambitious project yet. It will be free to download and should be a great tool for fans, football journalists and scouts alike to have a complete awareness of the immense talent that French football has to offer. Watch out for that.
Most importantly, I want to thank everybody who writes and works for Get French Football News. Their efforts often go unnoticed, but they continue to work tirelessly to provide you with all the latest French football news and without them many of the aforementioned achievements would not have been possible.
Finally, I want to thank you: the readership. We hope that the number of you continues to grow and that, with your help, we can continue to build on the successes of 2013.
