Kazakhstan U21s 1-5 France U21s

France’s U21 side dispatched Kazakhstan’s youngsters in Astana on a synthetic pitch today to confirm their participation in the U21 EURO 2015 tournament by securing a 5-1 victory in this qualifying match.

Morgan Sanson shone throughout and was the man to break the deadlock on 17 minutes after unleashing a driven shot on the end of a pertinent Florian Thauvin cross. Marseille’s youngster then combined with AS Monaco defensive midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia who teed up club teammate Layvin Kurzawa to put the ball in the end of an empty net on 31 minutes. 

The Kazakhs exploited some haphazard defending from Dimitri Foulquier to swing the game slightly on 36 minutes when Murtazaev slotted home to make it 2-1. 

France’s flying full-back Layvin Kurzawa, who has shown such unusual goalscoring prowess in the last 12 months, doubled his tally with a stylish scissor-like finish just before half time. 

In the second half, it was time for Arsenal’s Yaya Sanogo to shine. The attacker was lively throughout until being substituted for Anthony Martial, but got two goals early in the second half with close, composed finishes.
