Ligue 1

Ligue 1 LIVE: 08/03/2014

21:00: Round Up: We had everything today: 16 goals, 2 red cards and 3 penalties, as well as some last minute drama courtesy of Ajaccio. Unfortunately though, it is time for me to bid farewell. I can only hope that next time will be as thrilling as today, but until then, Au Revoir!

20:55: FULL TIME: Guingamp 0-1 Evian, Monaco 2-1 Sochaux, Nantes 2-2 Ajaccio, Toulouse 3-2 Reims, Valenciennes 2-1 Rennes.

20:53: GOAL: Nantes 2-2 Ajaccio (Diarra). Ajaccio have an equaliser at the death, as Diarra punishes some really poor Nantes defending! That will be 8 games without a win for the home side now…

20:50: Close: Rennes should be level! Grosicki’s scuffed shot falls to Toivonen, but his shot is saved magnificently by a diving Novaes! That could be that…

20:48: Close: What a chance for Ajaccio to equalise at the death! They find themselves through on goal, but the shot is agonisingly wide!

20:46: RED CARD: Jordan Ayew. Sochaux have much less chance of finding an equaliser now, as striker Jordan Ayew is given a straight red card.

20:44: GOAL: Toulouse 3-2 Reims (Ben Yedder). We have lift off! Ben Yedder turns two Reims defenders inside out and finishes into the bottom corner to send this crowd into delirium! Brilliant comeback from Toulouse.

20:41: GOAL: Monaco 2-1 Sochaux (Butin). One of the scrappiest goals I have ever seen, but Sochaux will not care. The ball bounces around the penalty area, and Butin, who is already on the floor, swings a foot at it and it flies past Subasic! Sunday League stuff there…!

20:38: GOAL: Toulouse 2-2 Reims (Ben Basat). They have done it! Two goals in 5 minutes from Toulouse has turned this game on it’s head. This time is is Ben Basat who scores the goal, and Toulouse are back on level terms. Can they go on and win it?

20:35: GOAL: Nantes 2-1 Ajaccio (Djordjevic). The Serbian makes up for his earlier open goal miss by putting Nantes in front! Ajaccio need to pull one back now, or relegation is looming…

20:33: GOAL: Valenciennes 2-1 Rennes (Waris). Kana-Biyik gives away a penalty, and is ant off for his troubles. Waris’ initial effort is saved, but he powers home the rebound and Valenciennes lead!

20:32: GOAL: Toulouse 1-2 Reims (Aurier). Aurier makes up for his earlier shocker as he grabs a goal back for Toulouse. Can they go on and get a second?

20:28: Close: Rennes should be in front! Grosicki makes a really good run down the right, and somebody should really be on the end of his pull back, but nobody can connect and eventually Valenciennes can clear.

20:25: Goncalves takes on 3 or 4 Nantes players with some brilliant skill and then goes down inside the box, but the referee is unmoved. Then, from their next attack, Nantes go within inches of scoring, as Djordjevic misses an open goal from a few yards out! The goalkeeper was no where near him, but he only managed to hit the post! Somehow, the score is still 1-1

20:21: Guingamp are beginning to put a lot of pressure on Evian, and Hansen is looking less and less comfortable in goal for the away side, but they cannot quite find the equaliser. They have around 30 minutes left to do so.

20:19: If Sochaux had a little more quality in the final third, this game could have been completely different. Their latest chance comes when the ball drops to Bakambu 6 yards out, but he can only shoot straight at Subasic.

20:17: Close: What a chance for Guingamp to equalise! From a corner, Hansen comes out into no man’s land and gets nowhere near the ball, but Beauvue is only able to head the ball wide. Anything on target would probably have been a goal.

20:14: GOAL: Monaco 2-0 Sochaux (Rodriguez). Berbatov wins a penalty for his side after some exquisite play inside the box, and James Rodriguez makes no mistake as he puts the ball past Pele from the spot. Mountain to climb for Sochaux now.

20:12: GOAL: Valenciennes 1-1 Rennes (Dossevi). Waris finds space on the right, and his cross is turned in to an empty net by Dossevi! Rennes had a chance to get a second just before that attack, and that could be the turning point in this game.

20:10: As in the 1st half, we began with a burst of goal. We have goals in every single Ligue 1 game now after those two early in the second half, and it looks like there are more on the way…

20:06: GOAL: Valenciennes 0-1 Rennes (Toivonen). It’s the big Swede again! No, not Ibra, but Toivonen, who puts Rennes in front. It is his 5th goal in 7 games, and he has made a big difference to this Rennes side since his January move.

20:04: GOAL: Guingamp 0-1 Evian (Cambon). Guingamp come out asleep after the break, and Cambon takes advantage of some poor marking to give Evian the lead!

20:00: KICK OFF: Back underway across the grounds. Who will claim the 3 points?

19:46: HALF TIME: Guingamp 0-0 Evian, Monaco 1-0 Sochaux, Nantes 1-1 Ajacico, Toulouse 0-2 Reims, Valenciennes 0-0 Rennes.

19:44: Most of the teams are now just looking to see out the first half without any further loss and get into the dressing room to see what their manager has to say. Half time imminent.

19:40: Carlao has a nasty looking wound to the head for Sochaux, but it does look like he will be OK to continue. He has a massive band wrapped around his forehead by the doctors, and he is back on the pitch.

19:37: GOAL: Toulouse 0-2 Reims (De Preville). Toulouse the architects of their own downfall again, as Sylla goes diving in needlessly and gives away a penalty, which De Preville finishes with ease. Reims have a 2 goal cushion, and Toulouse need to get the next goal.

19:34: Rennes, who have been on fire recently due to the impact of their January signings, are a bit subdued so far against Valenciennes. In fact, the home side are looking the more likely to score at the moment.

19:30: Not much at all has happened in Guingamp vs Evian. The home side have come closest though, with a Alioui shot that went narrowly wide. The game needs something to spark it to life.

19:27: Hits the woodwork: Sochaux come within inches of equalising against Monaco! Contout sees the ball drop to him on the right hand side of the box, and his bouncing shot goes past Subasic, but it comes back off the post! Agonising for the away side.

19:23: GOAL: Toulouse 0-1 Reims (Krychowiak). Reims score from a penalty, to punish that shocking miss from Aurier! Toulouse fans in despair, their team should have been ahead! Penalty the correct decision though.

19:20: Close: Taxi for Aurier! Unbeliavable miss! The ball is played across goal, the goalkeeper is nowhere to be seen, Aurier is 5 yards out, but he somehow manages to steer the ball wide! Reims fans can’t believe their luck.

19:18: Close: What a chance for Valenciennes! A cross finds its way to the back post, where Dossevi is completely unmarked with just the keeper to beat, but he scuffs his shot horribly wide! Rennes very lucky there.

19:16: Close: James Rodriguez swings in a corner, but Isimat-Mirin heads just wide, with Pele in the Sochaux goal unmoved. Monaco really pressing for a second.

19:13: Three goals already in the first 10 minutes, and we have had a very quick start to the action across Ligue 1 so far. In the other games, Toulouse and Rennes have started strongly against Reims and Valenciennes, but still 0-0 in those games.

19:09: GOAL: Nantes 1-1 Ajaccio (Gakpe). Nantes hit right back at Ajaccio, with a goal similar to the one Berbatov just scored. This time, it is Gakpe free at the back post for a simple tap in to make the scores level.

19:06: GOAL: Monaco 1-0 Sochaux (Berbatov). Well that didn’t take long! Berbatov sweeps in a great goal from Monaco to put his new side in front! Kurzawa played the pass across goal, and Berbatov couldn’t miss.

19:03: GOAL: Nantes 0-1 Ajaccio (Mostefa). The bottom club of Ligue 1 take the lead against Nantes, who have really struggled in Ligue 1 in 2014! Ajaccio are staring relegation in the face, but you never know…

19:00: KICK OFF: We are underway across the grounds!
