22:00: Well, after a dramatic night of Ligue 1 action, it is time for me to say farewell. We go again next week, with another Live Commentary of 10 simultaneous matches, but until then, Au Revoir!
21:56: Well, what drama that was today! We had all 10 Ligue 1 matches at the same time, and boy was it a treat! 26 goals, 4 red cards and 3 penalties, Ligue 1 delivered as only it can. More importantly, as a result of today’s matches, Guingamp have confirmed their Ligue 1 safety, with Evian and Sochaux facing off in a straight shoot-out in next week’s match. Also, ASSE still have a chance to catch Lille, and Lyon are on the front foot in the race for Europa League football, despite losing to Lorient, as Marseille drew against Bordeaux.
21:53: FULL TIME: Ajaccio 2-1 Reims, Bordeaux 1-1 Marseille, Evian 2-0 Nice, Guingamp 2-0 Toulouse, Lille 1-3 PSG, Lyon 0-1 Lorient, Montpellier 0-2 Bastia, Nantes 1-3 St-Etienne, Rennes 1-2 Sochaux, Valenciennes 1-2 Monaco
21:50: RED CARDS: Monnet-Paquet and Jordan Ferri are both sent off for a bit of handbags at the end of their match. Will finish 1-0 to Lorient.
21:48: GOAL: Lille 1-3 PSG (Delaplace). Lille pull one back, as Delaplace finds space in the box to finish high past a helpless Salvatore Sirigu.
21:46: Sochaux have played admirably so far, and if they can hold on to their lead, they will face off against Evian in a straight shoot-out to avoid relegation. Guingamp mathematically safe as things stand.
21:44: GOAL: Valenciennes 1-2 Monaco (Dirar). What a goal this is! Dirar picks the ball up, drives at goal, and unleashes a stunning 25 yarder into the far corner! Great goal, fitting to win any game.
21:41: GOAL: Lille 0-3 PSG (Matuidi). Great goal from PSG. The ball is played into Lucas, who plays a dream ball into Matuidi, who applies a clinical finishing touch to give PSG an unassailable 3-0 lead.
21:39: Sochaux absolutely defending for their lives against Rennes at the moment. Yohann Pele makes a brilliant diving save to tip over a long range shot, and you feel the goalkeeper will have to make more saves like that.
21:37: GOAL: Nantes 1-3 St-Etienne (Gakpe). Surely not? Serge Gakpe gets clear of his marker Bayal Sall, who switched off momentarily, and powers a header past Ruffier. Nantes need two more to salvage something.
21:35: GOAL: Evian 2-0 Nice (Benezet). Game over in Evian. Some more poor defending from Nice allows Benezet through on goal, and he finishes high past Ospina into the top corner to cement the three points for his team.
21:33: GOAL: Rennes 1-2 Sochaux (Mayuka). WOW! Mayuka, who has just come on for Sochaux, scores with his first touch with a powerful header!
21:31: GOAL: Montpellier 0-2 Bastia (Khazri). Bastia, who have been excellent today, have doubled their lead, thanks to a clinical striker’s finish from Khazri.
21:28: GOAL: Valenciennes 1-1 Monaco (Doumbia). Valenciennes, who are already relegated, have equalised against 2nd placed Monaco thanks to a Doumbia goal!
21:26: GOAL: Rennes 1-1 Sochaux (Ntep). MASSIVE goal. Grosicki plays in into Ntep, who clinically finishes to break Sochaux hearts. As things stand, Sochaux are all but down… They need another goal.
21:24: GOAL: Lille 0-2 PSG (Lucas). Lucas Moura drills in a low shot past Enyeama, and this is now surely game over for 10 man Lille.
21:22: GOAL: Bordeaux 1-1 Marseille (Diabate). Huge goal this. Diabate equalises for Bordeaux against Marseille, which means that Lyon are now back in front by 1 point of Marseille, with just one game to go after today.
21:20: Close: Zlatan Ibrahimovic almost scores a comical own goal, as he slices a clearance from a corner towards his own goal, but luckily for him Sirigu is on hand to make a diving low save!
21:18: Big credit goes to the Nantes fans, who are still in full voice and cheering their team on, even though they are 3-0 down at home against St-Etienne. Some of the best fans in the country there.
21:16: Close: Lille creating chance after chance at the moment! This time, Marco Basa has a big chance to score from a header, but he can only direct his effort over the bar… PSG clinging on at the moment!
21:14: Close: Montpellier almost equaliser, as Cabella curls a shot onto the top of the crossbar with Landreau beaten! Bastia cling on to their slim 1-0 lead.
21:11: GOAL: Lyon 0-1 Lorient (Doucoure). Lyon have a mountain to climb now. With Marseille winning, Lyon had to match them to stay in 5th, but they are now 1-0 down against Lorient, because of Doucoure’s opener shortly after half time.
21:09: Close: Lille should be level. The ball deflects to Idrissa Gueye inside the box with just Sirigu in his sights, but he gets underneath the ball and skies it into the air. 10 man Lille will not get many more chances like that.
21:06: You can only commend Sochaux’s performance so far today. They have been right at Rennes, and fully deserve their 1-0 lead. As things stand, it will be a straight shoot-out between Sochaux and Evian to avoid relegation in their match next week.
21:04: Lyon are under massive pressure at home to Lorient, as Marseille are currently winning, meaning they are 5th on goal difference. However, the home side are down to 10 men and really struggling to create chances.
21:02: CLOSE: What a chance for Guingamp to cement safety! The ball drops to Mandanne, just 6 or so yards from goal, but he slices his effort horribly over and wide! Should not matter if EAG hold their lead…
21:00: KICK OFF: We are slowly getting underway across the Ligue 1 grounds.
20:56: Important to remember that if Guingamp win, regardless of other results, they are safe, because Evian play Sochaux next week, and only one of them can win. In other news, Marseille are ahead of Lyon in the race for Europa League as things stand.
20:52: HALF TIME: Ajaccio 2-1 Reims, Bordeaux 0-1 Marseille, Evian 1-0 Nice, Guingamp 2-0 Toulouse, Lille 0-1 PSG, Lyon 0-0 Lorient, Montpellier 0-1 Bastia, Nantes 0-3 St-Etienne, Rennes 0-1 Sochaux, Valenciennes 0-1 Monaco.
20:49: GOAL: Montpellier 0-1 Bastia (Yatabare). Bastia have the lead just before half time! Yatabare rises highest from the crowd to power in a finish past Joudren and into the back of the net!
20:48: GOAL: Nantes 0-3 St-Etienne (Erding). Nantes have fallen apart. Erding gets his second of the day, with another wonderful finish, and St-Etienne are in cruise control.
20:46: We are hearing that Yohan Cabaye has been taken straight to hospital to analyse his injury against Lille. It looks serious, let’s hope it is just a precaution.
20:44: GOAL: Lille 0-1 PSG (Marquinhos). Big job for Lille now. After they were reduced to 10 after Martin’s sending off, they are now 1-0 down, as Marquinhos rises highest to head home from a set piece.
20:42: GOAL: Ajaccio 2-1 Reims (Oniangue). Reims half Ajaccio’s early two goal lead, as Oniangue pulls one back for his side with a clever finish past Ochoa.
20:40: GOAL: Valenciennes 0-1 Monaco (Germain). Monaco have the lead as Germain slots one home at the near post! Not much resting on this game though…
20:38: RED CARD: Martin. Martin goes in with a crunching tackle on Yohan Cabaye, and the referee initially gives a yellow, but then presumably realises the extent of the damage to Cabaye, and pulls out a red. Cabaye is stretchered off… Let’s hope it is not too serious.
20:34: GOAL: Rennes 0-1 Sochaux (Ayew). What a crucial goal! Jordan Ayew puts Sochaux ahead with a stunner, as he controls and finishes clinically past Costil! All 3 teams at the bottom winning at the moment… the relegation battle is heating up!
20:32: GOAL: Bordeaux 0-1 Marseille (Cheyrou). Time for me to eat my humble pie… Benoit Cheyrou rises highest to head home for Marseille!
20:30: Valenciennes vs Monaco and Bordeaux vs Marseille have been as stale as they get so far, with very few chances in either game. Luckily, we have 8 other games to distract ourselves with!
20:27: Sochaux still trying their hardest against Rennes, but without anything to show for it. The news has clearly come through that both Guingamp and Evian are winning, and the players need some inspiration from somewhere.
20:24: GOAL: Nantes 0-2 St-Etienne (Gradel pen.). Djidji dives in on Erding and gets none of the ball. Clear penalty, and should have been a red as he was last man, but only a yellow given. Anyhow, Gradel steps up and clinically dispatches the penalty into the bottom corner.
20:21: GOAL: Evian 1-0 Nice (Berigaud). Another huge goal in the relegation battle! That man Berigaud has given Evian a deserved lead against Nice with a clinical finish past Hassen, and Sochaux are going down as things stand.
20:19: PSG passing the ball around nicely, but have not been able to break down Lille so far. Ibrahimovic had their best chance so far.
20:17: RED CARD: Dabo. Lyon are down to 10 men early on as Dabo goes into a rash challenge. Lyon will all the work to do now, advantage Lorient.
20:15: GOAL: Guingamp 2-0 Toulouse (Yatabare pen.). Guingamp are awarded a rather dubious penalty for a push on Mandanne, but they will take it all day long. Yatabare steps up, and sends the goalkeeper the wrong way to double his side’s lead.
20:13: Sochaux still on top in their match against Rennes, and have had a few half chances which they have not capitalised on. Good start from the away side though.
20:11: GOAL: Nantes 0-1 St-Etienne (Erding). St-Etienne have an early lead! Erding meets a free kick at the near post, and powers a great header into the far corner over the goalkeeper!
20:09: 3 goals in the first 7 minutes, that’s what I like to see! In other news, Ibrahimovic is back for PSG against Lille, looking to inspire the Champions, who have been in poor form recently.
20:07: GOAL: Ajaccio 2-0 Reims (Perozo). Wow, Ajaccio are 2-0 up within 5 or so minutes! Perozo rises to head home for the home side, and where was this form earlier in the season?
20:05: GOAL: Guingamp 1-0 Toulouse (Beauvue). Huge goal! It’s that man Beauvue, who has been stunning for EAG this season, who gives his side a vital lead.
20:04: GOAL: Ajaccio 1-0 Reims (Tallo). Ajaccio have an early lead! Goncalves has a shot well parried by the goalkeeper, but Tallo is on hand to tap in from close range!
20:02: Sochaux right on the front foot against Rennes. You feel that they have to win today to keep alive their hopes of survival.
20:00: KICK OFF: We are underway in all 10 Ligue 1 games!
19:56: Just five minutes to go now until we kick off in all 10 of our matches. Expect goals galore tonight, as Ligue 1 reaches it’s hectic climax. Strap in, because it’s going to be one hell of a ride…
19:52: Race for Europe: Higher up the table, today is crucial in the race for Europe as well. If Lille win or St-Etienne fail to win, then Lille will secure their Champions League spot for next season. If Lyon win and Marseille fail to win, then Lyon will be confirmed as the final team to get into the Europa League, and Marseille will be left empty-handed.
19:50: Relegation Battle: The relegation battle will take a crucial twist today, in what is the penultimate week of Ligue 1. If both Guingamp and Evian can record wins, and Sochaux lose, then Sochaux will be relegated tonight. However, it is still so close down there, and any of those three teams can realistically go down.
