Ligue 1 LIVE: 22/03/14

21:00: Wow, what drama that was at the death! 2 Red Cards and three goals in the last 3 minutes of our games, and the team who came off worst were poor Valenciennes, who lost 3-2 to Ajaccio. Ligue 1 never fails to serve up some late drama, but unfortunately now it is time for me to head off. Until next time, Au Revoir!

20:54: FULL TIME: Bastia 2-0 Reims, Bordeaux 1-1 Nice, Nantes 2-1 Montpellier, Toulouse 1-1 Evian, Valenciennes 2-3 Ajaccio.

20:52: Close: Bordeaux nearly win it at the death! Henrique heads the ball from a corner towards the Nice net, but Ospina gets down brilliantly to block the shot.

20:49: Red Card: Bordeaux. Traore is sent off for his second yellow in 5 minutes, but it is unlikely to make a difference to the final score. Still Bordeaux 1-1 Nice.

20:48: GOAL: Valenciennes 2-3 Ajaccio (Baradji). Wow! Baradji gets his second goal of the match as he heads in a goal in added time! Heartbreaking for Valenciennes, who were just 5 minutes away from a huge win…

20:47: GOAL: Toulouse 1-1 Evian (N’Sikulu). The substitute scores with just minutes to go to surely rescue a point for Evian. Toulouse were so close to closing out the win…

20:45: GOAL: Valenciennes 2-2 Ajaccio (Baradji). Stunning. Ajaccio equalise as Baradji scores an absolute wonder goal from distance. Desperately unlucky for Valenciennes.

20:42: Red Card: Montpellier. If Montpellier come away from the game against Nantes with nothing, they only have themselves to blame. Congré becomes the second MHSC player to be sent off by the referee – yet another straight red.

20:40: As we enter the last 5-10 minutes of our Ligue 1 games, a lot of them are still in the balance. In 4 of the 5 games just a single goal could change the result immediately, and in the last one, 10 man Bastia are clinging on to a 2-0 lead against Evian! Drama on the way…

20:38: Red Card: Bastia. Yatabare is given his marching orders by the referee, and Bastia have to hold onto their 2 goal lead for another ten or so minutes or so against Reims. One goal for the away side and this could get interesting…

20:35: As things stand, with Toulouse 1-0 up against Evian, they are currently in 6th place, ahead of Marseille by 1 point! Europe anyone? Improbable but not impossible…

20:33: GOAL: Bordeaux 1-1 Nice (Bosetti). Bordeaux will be hugely disappointed here. Just after they go 1-0 up, they allow Nice to score as Bosetti equalises for the away side. Great character shown by Nice there.

20:31: GOAL: Valenciennes 2-1 Ajaccio (Waris). Valenciennes win a penalty to give them the chance of restoring their lead… Waris behind it… and he buries it! Double for Waris, double for VAFC, they have the lead.

20:29: Close: Nantes almost restore their two goal cushion against Montpellier, but the away side cling on…

20:26: GOAL: Bordeaux 1-0 Nice (Jussie). After a bizarre delay in play, Jussie manages to keep his cool from the spot and slots the ball past Ospina to open the scoring for his team! Nice will feel hard done by.

20:23: Penalty Bordeaux after a foul on Poko by Mendy. A little harsh to say the least…

20:20: GOAL: Valenciennes 1-1 Ajaccio (Andre). Ajaccio are level! Lasne does well on the wing to deliver a pin-point cross to Andre, who finishes smartly past Novaes. Valenciennes really need another goal now, they expect 3 points from this game.

20:16: Serge Gakpe has had a wonderful game so far for Nantes, having already scored and made an assist. This time, he picks up the ball in midfield and drives at the Montpellier goal, taking on two defenders, and eventually lays the ball off to Shechter, who’s shot is saved by Jourdren.

20:13: GOAL: Toulouse 1-0 Evian (Ben Yedder). A long ball over the top causes all sorts of trouble in the Evian box, and Hansen eventually ends up palming it straight to Ben Yedder, who keeps his cool to fire past the 3 defenders on the line and open the scoring!

20:09: GOAL: Valenciennes 1-0 Ajaccio (Waris). Unbeliavable! Waris again! The little man has almost single handedly revived Valenciennes’ chances of survival this season, and he is at it again, as he runs onto a through ball to finish clinically past Ochoa.

20:07: Ouch: Djordjevic takes a huge blow to the head inside the Montpellier box, and he lies on the floor motionless for a bit. He comes to his senses after a while, but it looks like he may have to come off…

20:04: Evian, who were dominated in the first half by Toulouse, have started the second half on the front foot. In fact, they should be ahead! Ruben finds space on the right and gets a shot away, but Boucher saves brilliantly!

20:02: KICK OFF: We are back underway in all 5 Ligue 1 games! Who will be today’s heroes?

19:50: HALF TIME: Bastia 2-0 Reims, Bordeaux 0-0 Nice, Nantes 2-1 Montpellier, Toulouse 0-0 Evian, Valenciennes 0-0 Ajaccio.

19:46: Red Card: Montpellier. Marveaux is given his marching orders! He goes into a tackle with his studs up, and nowadays there is only one way that will end – a red card. This could well be the turning point in this match.

19:43: GOAL: Bastia 2-0 Reims (Bruno). Bastia double their lead! Tacalfred has an absolute clanger, his error allows Bruno to go in 1 on 1 against Agassa, and he finishes calmly.

19:39: Close: Montpellier almost have their second! Stambouli’s header from a corner flies past Riou in goal for Nantes, but it is headed off the line brilliantly by Veigneau! Nantes clinging on to their lead…

19:37: GOAL: Nantes 2-1 Montpellier (Djidji O.G). Football can be cruel sometimes…! Djidji, who had just scored for Nantes from a corner earlier in the game, now turns in a Montpellier corner into his own net! Really unlucky for the Nantes centre back.

19:34: Bordeaux have a free kick in a decent position, but it hits a hand in the wall, and now they have a free kick just outside the box… saved!

19:32: Still 0-0 in Valenciennes vs Ajaccio, but now the home side are really pressing bottom club Ajaccio for that opening goal. Valenciennes, who have been in good form of late, are pressing Ajaccio whenever they get the ball, and the away side are beginning to struggle to hold on…

19:29: Penalty Appeal: Cabella is released down the Montpellier right, and his goal bound shot looks to be blocked by a Nantes hand. Cabella is adamant, but the referee is unmoved. Nantes may have been lucky there…

19:26: Nice have grown into the game against Bordeaux, and it now looks like it is a very even match. Nice have had the better of the last few minutes, but both sides have lacked a bit of quality in the final third so far.

19:23: GOAL: Nantes 2-0 Montpellier (Djidji). Gakpe swings in a corner, and Djidji meets it with a powerful header that flies past Jourdren and into the net. Montpellier have not been able to handle Nantes at all so far, the home side are flying.

19:19: Nantes have a free kick in a wonderful position… but it is blazed high and wide. Safe to say Djordjevic, who was waiting in the box for the cross, it not happy about that in the slightest.

19:17: Close: What a miss! Horrible stuff from Berigaud, who has an absolute clanger. He is just 5 or so yards from goal, with no defenders near him, but he slices his effort wide of the target. Evian should be ahead!

19:14: Valenciennes vs Ajaccio has been a pretty average game so far, with few chances for either side. The home side look the brighter though, as they chase the 3 points that would be invaluable in their bid to escape relegation.

19:11: GOAL: Bastia 1-0 Reims (Raspentino). Romaric has a powerful free kick saved by Agassa, but the ball flies into the air in front of the goal and Raspentino gets there first, to score a simple tap in from a few yards out!

19:08: Close: What a chance for Toulouse to score! They have a 4 on 2 situation with Ben Yedder on the ball, but when the ball is played into Aurier, his cut back is intercepted and Evian can clear.

19:06: Bordeaux have a free kick in a dangerous position… and Bautheac’s delivery is met strongly by the head of Mariano, but the header is too high and never threatened Ospina’s goal. Bordeaux have started better than Nice so far.

19:03: GOAL: Nantes 1-0 Montpellier (Gakpe). The home side’s lightning start is too hot for Montpellier! Jourdren fluffs at a cross from the right, and it falls to Gakpe, who has the simple job of finishing form just a few yards out. Fantastic start from Nantes.
