Ligue 1

Ligue 1 LIVE: 23/04/14

19:24: FULL TIME: PSG 1-0 Evian, Toulouse 0-0 Lyon.

19:21: Close: Toulouse almost win it at the death! Braithwaite hits the post with the last kick of the game, and that is really unlucky for Toulouse, who have been the better team.

19:20: Toulouse vs Lyon looks to be petering out into a very uninspiring 0-0 draw.

19:18: GOAL: PSG 1-0 Evian (Matuidi). The deadlock is broken! Lucas slides a fantastic pass into Matuidi, who has been lively off the bench, and the Frenchman fires in low past Hansen. Evian are undone at the death.

19:16: Cabaye is booked for a strong challenge, and is perhaps a little lucky that he has not seen red, but it is just a minor break in PSG’s dominance. Evian have played admirably.

19:14: The ball drops really nicely for Ferri on the edge of the box, and Lyon fans must be crying out for him to shoot, but for some reason he tries to play a pass back across the 18 yard box and the move breaks down.

19:12: Free kick in a great position for PSG… Cavani behind it… but his strike is straight into the wall. He appeals for the handball, which would be a penalty, but the referee is unmoved.

19:09: Close: After a series of failed clearances from Evian and scuffed shots from PSG, the ball drops kindly to Matuidi 10 yards out, but he curls his left-footed effort just wide of Hansen’s post. Big chance for PSG to take the lead.

19:06: PSG absolutely bombarding the Evian goal, but nothing is giving at the moment. Are they missing Ibrahimovic? I think so… Menez about to come on.

19:03: Close: Almost brilliant from Ben Yedder! The ball is played over the top from distance to him, and he hits it on the volley as it drops first time, but his shot flies just inches wide of the post with Lopes scrambling to get there.

19:00: Evian are completely camped inside their half, and PSG have all of the ball, but are guilty of being a little wasteful. Their latest attack breaks down as Pastore fires a shot miles wide of the goal.

18:58: Close: PSG knocking on the door again, as Lucas Digne, who can definitely hit them, lines up a long ranger from the left, but it flies into the side netting instead of the goal. PSG getting closer.

18:55: Close: Lavezzi, looking to redeem himself after his earlier miss, has a go from distance with a curling effort, but Hansen is on hand to turn it over the bar with a diving save.

18:53: Close: Toulouse almost take the lead! Ben Yedder chests the ball and fires a shot at goal from short range, but it cannons off the post and to safety for Lyon.

18:50: Red Card: Evian. Abdallah is sent off for Evian after receiving his second booking within 10 minutes. He flies in on Digne unnecessarily, and there is no doubt about the decision. A hard task just got a lot harder for Evian.

18:48: Close: Again PSG come close. Lavezzi’s free kick just misses both Thiago Silva and Verratti at the back post, and any sort of contact would surely have resulted in a goal. Evian hanging on now.

18:45: Close: How are PSG not ahead! Pastore releases Rabiot on the left, and his low cross is right at Lavezzi, who is unmarked 5 yards out, but he can only put his shot inches wide of the far post. Massive escape there for Evian.

18:42: Close: This time Toulouse almost hit Lyon on the counter! Braithwaite takes on two players, and then delivers a cross to the far post for the unmarked Ben Yedder, but Umtiti is on hand to divert the ball for a corner in the last second. Good defending.

18:40: Close: Best chance of the match! A corner is whipped in, and captain Gonalons rises highest to get his head on it, but his header flies inches wide of the post with Boucher beaten. Let off for Toulouse, much better from Lyon.

18:38: Marquihos has a very good chance from a header after a corner, as he rises far higher than his marker, but he cannot quite get the direction he wants, and the ball files over the bar.

18:36: Close: Bedimo delivers a dangerous cross from the left hand side, but Lacazette cannot quite reach it as he went for the header. Much better already from Lyon, can they continue it though?

18:33: KICK OFF: Back underway in both games! Let’s hope for some goals…

18:25: Pretty lacklustre first half in both games really, let’s hope that we get to see some goals in the next 45! Lyon and Evian in particular really do need the three points.

18:18: HALF TIME: PSG 0-0 Evian, Toulouse 0-0 Lyon.

18:14: Nearing half time now, and we do not have a goal in either of our games. To be fair, Toulouse have looked the most driven of the 4 sides, which is very strange considering they are the only side with nothing to play for. PSG, Lyon and Evian still need all 3 points to meet their goals for the season, but Toulouse have been impressive.

18:11: Also worth remembering that Evian inflicted PSG’s first defeat of the Ligue 1 season in the reverse fixture. Looking at the way they have played in the first half, another upset could be on the cards here…

18:08: It really just hasn’t worked so far for PSG’s forward line against a resolute Evian defence. Without Ibrahimovic to lead the line, they have looked devoid of confidence, and Cavani is yet to justify his handsome transfer fee.

18:04: Ouch: Steed Malbranque hits the floor and seems to have injured his head. He looks to be in a lot of pain here, hopefully he is able to carry on… Well, the magic spray has done its job, and Malbranque is back on the field.

18:00: Cavani goes down in the Evian box with a half hearted penalty appeal, but the referee was well placed and immediately says play on. PSG beginning to press now.

17:57: I have to say that Toulouse have dealt with the pace of Briand and Lacazette very well so far, and offensively Lyon have created very little so far. Toulouse will be pleased with the opening 30 minutes.

17:54: Ouch: There is an argument going on in PSG vs Evian after a clash of heads results in a lot of blood and bandages. Thiago Silva is around the referee demonstrating that his side should have a free kick, but nothing giving.

17:49: Not much going on now in either of our two games and chances are few and far between. I guess the teams are still settling, but no chances to speak of really in the last 10 minutes or so.

17:46: The games have just decreased in intensity a little now as PSG and Lyon start to come back into the game after slow starts. Having said that, Evian still look dangerous on the counter attack at the moment.

17:43: Evian have started very brightly against PSG and, in addition to hitting the bar, have just forced Sirigu into a good diving stop after an Evian corner.

17:41: Close: Toulouse are really dominating Lyon at the moment, and they have another chance to score. The ball is flicked on from a corner to Ben Yedder at the back post, but he cannot direct his effort on goal.

17:39: Close: Evian almost take the lead! Wass stands behind a 25 yard free kick, and he crashes a powerful shot past Sirigu, but it hits the crossbar!

17:36: Close: Ben Yedder has a great chance to put Toulouse ahead as he goes 1 on 1 with Lopes, but he puts his shot just past the post when he really should have scored!

17:33: Remember, a PSG win today would put them just 2 points short of mathematically guaranteeing that they have retained their title. I reality, that was sealed long ago.
