Ligue 1 LIVE: 29/03/14

21:00: Wow, what a finish that was! As the mist clears over those results, the one that mean the most is Evian’s 1-0 win against Monaco, which puts Evian 5 points clear of the relegation zone and closes competitors Valenciennes, while also almost certainly securing PSG’s second consecutive Ligue 1 title. It was a day with few goals, but a huge amount of importance. However, after another fascinating day of Ligue 1 football, it is now time for me to say goodbye. Until next time, Au Revoir!

20:53: FULL TIME: Ajaccio 2-2 Toulouse, Evian 1-0 Monaco, Montpellier 0-0 Valenciennes, Nantes 0-0 Bordeaux, Reims 1-1 Lorient.

20:49: Missed Penalty: Toulouse have a penalty to win it against Ajaccio… but Ochoa dives low to his left to keep it out! The whole Ajaccio team celebrate with him – surely that has rescued a point!

20:47: Close: Wass takes aim from a long range free kick for Evian against Monaco, but Subasic is well behind it and manages to save it comfortably. Monaco running out of time to find an equaliser…

20:45: Free kick at the death in a brilliant position for Ajaccio… 5 players are discussing who will take it… eventually Lasne is given the responsibility, but he blazes the ball miles over the bar! Huge waste for Ajaccio…

20:42: GOAL: Evian 1-0 Monaco (Mongongu). Unbelievable! Evian take the lead against 2nd placed Monaco as Mongongu scores the penalty to put his side ahead. What a massive three points this could be for the relegation threatened Evian!

20:40: PENALTY: Evian. Can they score against Monaco? Carvalho gives away the penalty as he blocks a goal bound shot with his hand! Yellow for the Portuguese defender…

20:38: Close: Germain almost scores for Monaco! A cut back from the right falls straight into his pass, but yet again an Evian defender is on hand to block his attempted shot. Evian have defended brilliantly today.

20:35: Toulouse have a free kick in a brilliant position to try and find the winner… Ben Yedder, who has been brilliant, behind it… what a save! Ben Yedder curls it right towards the top corner, but a leaping Ochoa makes a fantastic diving save to deny him a goal!

20:33: Just over 10 minutes to go in each of our Ligue 1 games, and there is a lot on the line, especially in the matches with Evian and Valenciennes. If Evian lose and VAFC win, the relegation dogfight well and truly is on. The opposite result, though, and VAFC could be cut adrift.

20:30: Monaco have huffed and puffed, but aside from that shocking Rodriguez miss, they have created very little indeed to show for their efforts. Berbatov was taken off a while ago, but nothing Ranieri has done seems to have had an effect on his players. Evian are punching well above their weight.

20:28: Close: Lorient almost take the lead! Aboubakar beats the offside trap and is through on goal against Agassa, but his chip dribbles just inches wide of the far post. Really harsh on Aboubakar, because his effort was extremely close to coming off.

20:25: Bordeaux are putting some considerable pressure on home side Nantes at the moment. In their latest attack, Bordeaux deliver a series of crosses into the Nantes box, none of which are fully cleared, until Vizcarrondo finally heads out for a throw in. Nantes struggling with the pace of the game a little.

20:23: Montpellier are still unable to break down this resolute Valenciennes defence so far. You have to feel that the longer this game stays like this, the more chance VAFC have of getting that all important goal to give them the 3 points they need.

20:20: GOAL: Ajaccio 2-2 Toulouse (Chantome). Toulouse have pulled it back! After some more great work from Ben Yedder, Chantome finishes calmly past Ochoa to equalise. He then goes and grabs the ball out of the net, and puts it on the centre circle.  Toulouse want more.

20:17: Abdenour is looking a little shaky at the back for Monaco… The January transfer, who partners Carvalho in defence, has given the ball away a few times today.

20:15: Close: Evian almost make Monaco pay for that miss! Berigaud takes a long range shot which flies narrowly wide of Subasic’s post, and I’m not convinced the ‘keeper had that one covered.

20:12: What a miss!: Wow… I though Djidji’s miss couldn’t be topped, but this is miles worse from James Rodriguez! Germain squares the ball to Rodriguez, who is 2 yards out and with an empty goal to finish into, but he completely mishits it and misses the open goal! I think he even injured himself in the process…! Miss of the season.

20:09: Close: What a miss this is! Nantes should really be ahead, as Djidji has a completely free header just 4 yards out, but he skews it wide of the post! Really unbelievable miss there…

20:07: GOAL: Reims 1-1 Lorient (Fortes). Wonderful play from Reims! A pull back falls to Charbonnier with Audard committed to stopping his shot, but Charbonnier cleverly finds Fortes in space to finish into an empty net. Really unselfish, clever football there from Charbonnier, and Reims are level.

20:05: Substitution: Ranieri changes things up to liven up his side after that poor first half. He brings on Germain instead of Ocampos.

20:02: KICK OFF: Back underway across Ligue 1 as the referees signal the start of the second half!

19:55: Well, let’s hope for some more goals in the second half! We have three games still fixed at 0-0, but there have been plenty of chances in the first half in each of those games. Let’s see what the second half has for us…

19:50: HALF TIME: Ajaccio 2-1 Toulouse, Evian 0-0 Monaco, Montpellier 0-0 Valenciennes, Nantes 0-0 Bordeaux, Reims 0-1 Lorient.

19:48: GOAL: Reims 0-1 Lorient (Aboubakar). Aliadiere is down injured, so the penalty is delayed a little, but Aboubakar keeps his cool to slot the ball into the bottom left corner, sending Agassa the wrong way. Lorient lead!

19:46: Penalty: Lorient. Agassa cleans out Aliadiere, no complaints about the penalty, but what colour is the card…? It’s yellow, and Agassa has gotten away with one there.

19:45: Approaching half time now in all 5 games, although the Valenciennes vs Montpellier match is likely to have some added time because of Niang’s injury. We have had just the three goals so far, all coming in the same match: Ajaccio vs Toulouse. The other games are stuck at 0-0, although they will open up in the second half.

19:42: Reims and Lorient have really cancelled each other out so far tonight. There have been very few chances for either side, and the possession is balanced between both sides. May be decided by just the single goal.

19:39: GOAL: Ajaccio 2-1 Toulouse (Sylla). Toulouse respond immediately! Ben Yedder shows great skill to take the ball away from two defenders out wide, and his goal bound shot then cannons of Ochoa into the path of Sylla, who is first to react and puts away the deflection.

19:36: GOAL: Ajaccio 2-0 Toulouse. Not sure whose goal this is, or even if it should have counted! Mostefa shoots, it clearly deflects off Tallo’s arm and goes in, but the referee allows the goal and Ajaccio have doubled their lead!

19:33: Hits the woodwork: Valenciennes almost take the lead! A cross comes in towards Pujol, and he gets his head on it, and it comes off the bar with Joudren beaten!

19:30: Hits the woodwork: Toulouse hit the post as Chantome’s long range shot hits the inside of the post with Ochoa well and truly beaten and goes narrowly wide! Ajaccio hanging on to their 1-0 lead.

19:28: Bordeaux have a free kick in a very dangerous position against Nantes… Saivet behind it… but he blazes the ball well over the bar, and Nantes can regroup from a goal kick. This game is lacking a bit of quality in the final third.

19:25: Montpellier have had the upper hand in the opening exchanges in their match against Valenciennes, but VAFC are holding resolute in defence at the moment. Valenciennes realistically need something from this game to keep up the momentum in their bid to escape relegation.

19:22: Monaco are still yet to get going. Berbatov and Rodriguez try to link up in attack, but a misplaced pass means the move breaks down. Ranieri looks frustrated, and rightly so.

19:19: Close: Lorient almost take the lead! Aliadiere collects a long ball and appears to take it past Agassa, but the goalkeeper gets back brilliantly to block the shot. Good play from both players.

19:17: Ajaccio are all over Toulouse at the moment. They are already 1-0 up, and it could be 2 as Fortesse’s goes on a mazy run, which finally sees a dangerous shot blocked by Ecuele-Manga. Great stuff from the bottom club.

19:13: Evian have started impressively against Monaco. In their most recent attack, they counter Monaco at pace, and Nsikulu gets a shot on target, but Subasic is well behind it to make the save. Monaco have started a little slowly.

19:09: Ouch!: Niang is down in pain, and you can see why. Novaes and Niang are both going for the same ball, but the goalkeeper absolutely clatters him, with his knee hitting Niang’s head, and Niang is on the floor for a long while. I think he should just about be OK to carry on though.

19:06: GOAL: Ajaccio 1-0 Toulouse (Faty). Bottom club Ajaccio have the lead! It is Faty with the goal, as he applies a nice finish to beat Boucher in the Toulouse goal. On course for an upset here.

19:03: Close: Nantes almost take an early lead! Bedoya finds space on the right after a flick on and has a shot on goal, but he drags it just wide of the far post! Warning sign for Bordeaux.

19:00: KICK OFF: We are underway across the Ligue 1 grounds!

18:55: Round Up: Previously in Ligue 1 today, relegation-threatened Sochaux drew 1-1 with Marseille. Sochaux were in fact just a few minutes away from three points against a poor Marseille team, but a 90th minute N’Koulou goal denied them. Marseille’s hopes of European football have all but faded.

18:50: Lorient team vs Reims: Audard – Gassama, Ecuele Manga, Lautoa, Guerreiro – Jouffre, Bourillon, Coutadeur, Monnet-Paquet – Aboubakar, Aliadière.

18:50: Reims team vs Lorient: Agassa – Mandi, Tacalfred, Weber, Signorino – Devaux, Krychowiak, Oniangué – Fortes, Charbonnier, Atar.

18:49: Bordeaux team vs Nantes: Carrasso – Mariano, Sané, Henrique, Orban – Saivet, Biyogo Poko, Sertic, Maurice-Belay – Jussiê, Hoarau.

18:49: Nantes team vs Bordeaux: Dupé – Cissokho, Djidji, Vizcarrondo, Veigneau – Deaux, Gomis – Nicolita, Bedoya, Gakpé – Shechter.

18:48: Valenciennes team vs Montpellier: Novaes – Lala, Medjani, Kagelmacher, Ciss – Ducourtioux, Doumbia, Da Silva – Melikson, Pujol, Masuaku.

18:48: Montpellier team vs Valenciennes: Jourdren – Deplagne, Stambouli, El Kaoutari, Tiéné – Saihi, Sanson – Martin, Cabella, Mounier – Niang.

18:47: Monaco team vs Evian: Subasic – Raggi, Carvalho, Abdennour, Echiejile – Kondogbia, Toulalan, Obaddi – James Rodriguez, Berbatov, Ocampos.

18:47: Evian team vs Monaco: Hansen – Abdallah, Mongongu, Cambon, Sabaly – Wass, Tié Bi, Sorlin, Bertoglio – Nsikulu, Bérigaud.

18:46: Toulouse team vs Ajaccio: Boucher – Veskovac, Zebina, Spajic – Aurier, Didot, Aguilar, Chantôme, Sylla – Trejo – Ben Yedder.

18:46: Ajaccio team vs Toulouse: Ochoa – Mostefa, Perozo, Hengbart, Bonnart, Diarra – Lasne, Faty, Gonçalvès – André – Tallo.
