Valenciennes President Jean-Raymond Legrand has recently come out and said that the club will not be making any more signings in this January transfer window. The struggling Ligue 1 side, who are currently 18th in the league this season and fighting to avoid the drop, have been involved already in January though.
The club announced very early in the window, once again through President Jean-Raymond Legrand, that they had completed the loan signing of Spartak Moscow player Majeed Waris on a loan deal. The Ghanaian forward could be a key signing for the club, who said that ‘the player will bring pace and power to the Valenciennes attacking line.’
The club also completed the loan signing of defender Carl Medjani from high-flying AS Monaco until the end of the season. It is hoped at the club that Medjani can help bolster a defence that has been very leaky so far this season.
However, there was a high profile departure from the club this window. 31 year old veteran defensive midfielder Jose Saez left the club in January to join Ligue 2 side Caen. Considering the fact that Valenciennes have now confirmed that there will be no more signings this transfer window, will it be enough to keep them in France’s top league?
