Metz have announced the signing of Osmanlispor striker Cheick Diabaté on a loan deal until the end of the season, with an option to buy.
The Malian international has previously played in Ligue 1 with Bordeaux, whilst also appearing with fellow French sides Nancy and Ajaccio, where he arrived over a decade ago.
The signing of Diabaté shows the intent of Metz manager Philippe Hinschberger to bolster his striking options as his side look to stay in Ligue 1 for another season.
Diabaté was sold by former club Bordeaux last summer to the Turkish side Osmanlispor but hasn’t made the desired impact and has quickly jumped at the chance to come back to Ligue 1, where he flourished for Bordeaux in the past few years.
More importantly to the deal is the option to buy at the end of the current loan agreement, which could be a big coup for Metz if he hits the ground running and assure them of their survival and maybe even a top half finish.
