After months of speculation and U-turns, Lyon forward Bafetimbi Gomis has announced that he will not be renewing his contract with the French side.
He told RMC:
“I’ve begun my 5th season at OL. I think at the end of the season, it’s time for me to go elsewhere, if the grass is greener.”
Gomis has been subject to interest from Marseille as well as Newcastle in England over the last six months and it remains to be seen where his future lies, with Gomis himself admitting that he is unsure.
The Frenchman could still leave Lyon in January as the French club will be eager to get money for the player instead of letting him leave on a free. We are sure it should all become clear in the coming weeks.
