After being in contact with Lorient centre-back Bruno Ecuele Manga, Everton appear to have stayed in the French market in their chase for a new defender and have turned to highly rated Le Mans 19 year old Mory Kone.
Reports this morning from French outlets were that Everton had made a bid in the region of €1 Million for the player and we understand that no fee has been agreed as yet. Everton are discussing a possible fee with the French side and Le Mans are likely to be willing to sell for under €1.2 Million euros. They are also discussing a contract with the player, but are unwilling to commit to anything as yet and so far they are unsure that they really want to sign the player.
Nevertheless, expect movement on this one shortly and we shall keep you updated when we can.
Mory Kone had a break though season for Le Mans last season and has featured for France U19s. He is likely to be looking for a move elsewhere as Le Mans were relegated to the National last season and he clearly has the ability to be playing in a higher division.
