21:50: FT: FRANCE 3-1 GEORGIA: Not the greatest performance, but France did what they needed to do and sit top of their group, ahead of Spain. Valbuena the man of the match. He set up two goals and scored one. France looked flat when he went off and the substitutes of Sissoko and Remy did not add much. Benzema once again very very poor. France will go into their crunch match against Spain in high spirits though, and anything, but a loss, will surely mean that they qualify for the World Cup, top of their group. Georgia did themselves very proud tonight. They could have scored more than one and stood up to the big occasion

21:47: We are into added time. Three minutes have been added on.

21:45: Benzema once again gets into a good position but is unable to wriggle free of the Georgia defence. Will be interesting to see if he plays against Spain after this performance. He then blazes the ball over the bar in the next attack.  He does not look like he wants to be there and the fans are clearly angry with him.

21:37: Menez has come on for Ribery. The Bayern star has been good. He linked well with Valbuena for two of the goals. Presumably, he is being taken off early, as he is likely to start against Spain. Menez will provide an extra injection of pace, which could provide issues for this tiring Georgia side.

21:34: Spain and Finland have drawn 1-1. Cracking result for the French. Puts them top of the group, if they hold onto this lead. France play Spain next week.

21:28: GOAL GEORGIA!! 3-1: Shock. The ball rebounds off Sakho’s back, after a header at the front post, to Kobakhidze, who has been Georgia’s bright spark tonight. The player fires the ball home. Lloris should have done better, but Kobakhidze has played well tonight and gets a reward. Deschamps fuming. Lack in concentration from the French.

21:25: Standing ovation for Valbuena as he is subbed off. Two assists and a goal for the player tonight. QPR’s in form man Loic Remy comes on to replace him. Moussa Sissoko is on for Matuidi

21:22: And as that goal goes in, Finland score!!! Now Spain 1-1 Finland. France would go top of the group tonight if results went this way.

21:20: GOAL FRANCE!!! 3-0: A fantastic ball over the top from Valbuena finds Ribery on the left hand side in an advanced position. He cuts inside, beats the defender easily and tucks the ball into the net at the near post past the keeper. Very poor from Georgia, but great football by France, who are starting to cut Georgia apart. Surely all over now.

21:12: France pushing for a third goal, but Benzema is not helping their cause. Another poor miss from the French star makes it his fourth of the night. The fans appear to be running out of patience with the player. Why does he play so poorly for Les Bleus?!

21:05: GOAL FRANCE!!! 2-0: Giroud holds the ball up down the left hand side before he plays it into Ribery who passes the ball to Valbuena who half volleys the ball into the top corner. Beautiful strike by the Marseille man. A goal that he really deserves. He has been the best player on the pitch so far.  What a start to this second half! Looks like game is over already.

21:04: We are back underway

Spain have gone one up against Finland. Ramos with the goal. Means that France can not afford any slip ups in this second half.

Mbiwa Latest: We have been making calls during that first half in order to find out more for you about the Newcastle player! The general idea is that they player has just drawn the short straw and been left out tonight. He is likely to feature against Spain next week. He may have picked up a slight knock, which is why he is the player to sit out, but if this is the case, it is nothing serious at all.

HT:  France 1-0 Georgia: And that was the last touch of the half. France have not been brilliant, by any stretch of the imagination. Valbuena is running things in the midfield, but Benzema once again has been notably poor and has not found a finish to any of his three good chances. Pogba is looking ok, but has not done anything to note. Varane has actually looked fairly nervous. Georgia have rarely troubled, but when they have, he has not been marking and closing down as much as he should be doing. Expect Deschamps to change things up fairly shortly. France have been fairly static so far and Georgia do occasionally look dangerous.

20:46: GOAL FRANCE!!! France have a freekick 29 metres out, which Valbuena, who has been the man of the half floats in brilliantly to find Giroud, who heads past the keeper into the bottom corner. A great way to end the half. Brilliant placement on the header.

20:42: Georgia take a shot through Kobakhidze from the edge of the box, but Lloris is there to dive to his right and push the ball clear. What a save! Top keeping. Showing why he is the number one. Georgia once again showing that they are still in this.

20:38: Clichy skips past about five defenders before playing the ball into the box for Benzema. The Frenchman, in a great position, goes for the shot, but the ball comes off his shin and goes wide. Boos ring out around the Stade de France.

20:35: At half time in the other game in the group it is Spain 0-0 Finland. Can Finland do France a massive favour and get a point off the World Cup holders. Still a long way to go, but you never know.

20:30: Valbuena plays Giroud in on the break, but the Arsenal forward is only able to loft the ball over the cross bar. Tried to do something special, when he really should have done better. He had yards of space in front of him to run into. It was only the keeper to beat.

20:28: BIG chance down the other end. They ball is floated in and Varane has lost his man. Its a free header for the Georgia attacker, but unfortunately for the visitors, it goes straight at Lloris, who claims the ball. Shows how Georgia have the ability to produce a shock here.

20:26: Benzema has a shot for France from the edge of the box, which the keeper easily saves. They are queuing up on the edge of the box, but not finding the final ball as yet.

20:25: France just trying to be a little too neat and clever going forward. Valbuena still pulling the strings, but Giroud and Benzema are not communicating well enough and the passes are not quite coming off therefore.

20:19: Georgia looking very nervous on the ball. Clichy floats a ball in, straight at a defender, who, with plenty of time, is only able to boot the ball straight out of play.

20:16: Giroud holds the ball up well, using his strength, in the box, before finding Benzema, who is only able to hit a shot straight at the keeper. France pressing. Looking like only a moment of time before they will find the net.

20:11: Matuidi cutting the ball out every time that Georgia come forward. Jallet has delivered a wonderful cross down the right, but failed to find a man. France appear to be in control in the opening the minutes.

20:05: France already looking dangerous. Valbuena bombs forward, before Ribery cuts inside and hits the crossbar. Really should have done better. Georgia look to be struggling. Could be 1-0 already

20:00: We are underway in France.

Yanga-Mbiwa latest: Georgia only line up with 12 subs tonight, as do France. Looks like both sides are only playing 23 players instead of 24 and Mbiwa is the one sitting out tonight. Probably just a selection by Deschamps, but we are not ruling out a knock. We shall let you know if we find anything more out.

National Anthems going at the ground. Just minutes away from kick off

Spain are playing Finland at home in the same group. Both France and Spain are currently on 7 points from 3 games. Spain lead the group on goal difference. You would expect France and Spain to pull further clear at the top. We shall provide goal updates from that game as well right here.

Yanga-Mbiwa will definately not play tonight, it has been confirmed. We are trying to find out why this is. First thought is that it could be that he has picked up a knock. No real other reason that I can think of at the moment. Latest here.

Benzema given a chance to prove his worth tonight. He should score against this Georgia team. Questions about his commitment to Les Bleus raised in the week. The French public continuing to doubt how much he cares when playing for the national team, as he is in fact of Algerian decent. He once said he only plays for the French National team as it is at a greater standard of football.

Georgia XI v France: Loria; Lobjanidze, Amisulashvili, Khizanishvili, Kvirkvelia; Daushvili, Ananidze, Targmadze, Kobakhidze; Vatsadze

Interesting to see the lack of Premier League players in the starting XI. Cabaye does not start and is unlikely to feature, as a booking would put him out of the game against Spain. Koscielny is dropped from the starting line up and is replaced by Varane, who looks set to become a regular feature in years to come. It is a great game for the likes of Varane and Pogba to ease themselves into their Les Bleus career, as Georgia are not opponents they should find too difficult. Clichy is preferred to Evra, who has been dropped of the captaincy. Sissoko and Debuchy from Newcastle could come on in the second half. Yanga-Mbiwa has been viewed sitting in the stands and so is unlikely to play.

France XI vs Georgia: Lloris; Jallet, Varane, Sakho, Clichy; Valbuena, Pogba, Matuidi, Ribery; Benzema, Giroud.

The kit that France are to play in tonight. It will be the first time they have worn it
