West Bromwich Albion attacking midfielder Morgan Amalfitano has been extremely bitter about his time about Marseille as a whole in his interview with So Foot which was published this week Wednesday, making surprising remarks about Mathieu Valbuena and Andre Ayew in particular.
Amalfitano explained that Mathieu Valbuena ‘plays best when he keeps things simple’ and that ‘he [Valbuena] is aware of this’. ‘The moment you play to try and show off, you lose quality.’
In effect, Amalfitano is praising Valbuena for his consistent ‘heads down’ attitude to his career. The current West Bromwich Albion loanee was however less complimentary towards another one of his former team mates, Andre Ayew:
‘When I talk about egos in football he is one of them. He needs to realise that it is his ego getting in the way of him improving as a player.’ ‘Why is this happening?’
When asked about the harsh criticism he faced from Canal + football pundit Pierre Menes for his slap on PSG midfielder Blaise Matuidi last year, he was frank with his response:
‘That tart [Matuidi], he deserved it. There is not a problem with that. Then the other guy, Pierre Menes. Who even is he? All I care about is that my career is going forward. The rest, honestly, I don’t care.’
