Newcastle sign French Quartet

In an incredible haul, Newcastle have signed 4 Ligue 1 players in the space of a few days. Yoan Gouffran, Mapou Yanga-MBiwa, Massadio Haidara and Moussa Sissoko for an altogether fee believed to be around €15m.

Their 1st capture was that of former Montpellier Captain Yanga-MBiwa. The strong and decisive centre-back will expect to become an integral part of the Newcastle setup, and the €7m fee and 5.5 year contract suggest that this is exactly what Pardew has in mind.

Yesterday, came the official unveiling of Striker Yoan Gouffran, who left Bordeaux to sign for the Magpies for a fee believed to be around €3.5m including potential future add ons. Gouffran’s contract was due to end in June, and Bordeaux were happy to let him go, although they are now seriously short of attacking firepower. The Frenchman signed a 4 and a half year contract, which could potentially see him stay with Newcastle until 2017.

Today, Newcastle proceeded to unveil their 3rd signing in as many days when they confirmed the signing of the young and very talented left-back Massadio Haidara from struggling Nancy for a €2.5m fee. Newcastle can expect a strong, agile defender who looks to get first to every ball.

We also confirmed to you that Moussa Sissoko is virtually a Newcastle player after Toulouse announced the defensive midfielder’s departure via Twitter. There had been a contractual agreement between Sissoko and Newcastle for days, but, until today, it was unclear whether he would be leaving in January or June. However, Toulouse and Newcastle were able to agree a €3.5m fee and the player is expected to be officially unveiled by the Magpies before the week is up.
