According to L’Equipe this morning, Newcastle will sign Andre Ayew today if Yohan Cabaye leaves the club to Arsenal and PSG. Ayew is rumoured to want to stay at Marseille, but with Florian Thauvin looking almost certain to come in, first team places could be limited for the Ghanaian and L’Equipe say that Marseille will be willing to let him go if a good offer comes in. Andre Ayew is seen as Newcastle’s first choice if the Frenchman leaves and they have tracked him all summer. Ayew is still receiving interest from Liverpool, however, as well. French football expert @mattspiro says Andre Ayew is definitely staying at Marseille though as he believes that the club have no reason on incentive to sell him.
In terms of Yohan Cabaye’s situation, What is known is the PSG will now not put a bid in for the player according to L’Equipe, but the player would like to leave Newcastle for Arsenal. What is not known at this stage, however, is if there is a bid on the table for the player currently. Arsenal have had at least two bids rejected for the Frenchman and it is speculated that Newcastle are unwilling to sell to another Premier League club. The situation is complicated therefore, but also easily resolved. If Arsenal come in with an offer of £20 million plus, they are very likely to get their man. As Joe Kinnear has said, “The ball is in their court.” Only time will tell if they do.
