Rolland Courbis takes the reins at Montpellier

Montpellier have announced on their official website the signing of Rolland Courbis as manager on a 2 and a half year contract. The Frenchman, who had been a commentator for RMC Sport, returns to the club where he spent 2 years at previously, between 2007 and 2009. Courbis is the manager who brought Montpellier up to Ligue 1 last.

Jean Fernandez was sacked in the wake of the club’s loss to Lorient in midweek after a succession of 8 games without a victory. Courbis will not take over until after this weekend, with Pascal Baliss taking the position of head coach for this weekend’s encounter with Toulouse.

Courbis’ last club was Algerian outfit USM Alger, a post he left just weeks ago.
