Transfer Deadline Day LIVE: 2nd September 2013

23.43: Well ladies and gentlemen, it has been a ride. Just under 25 hours ago, this live feed begun and the Get French Football News team worked around the clock to provide you with the most precise and accurate updates from the transfer deadline day according to French football.

Thank you all for tuning in, not only today but over the past 2 months in what has been a really packed mercato. If you liked what we did this time around, do give us a tweet. Remember to stay with us as we guide you through what promises to be one of the most absorbing French football seasons in recent years! Bonne nuit! Over and out.

23.37: It does appear that PSG have missed out in signing Mata, while Sochaux’s attempts to sign Karaboue have been out in hold for the joker option because yes in France you can still sign players outside the window! Well one anyway. It is never ending this business.

23.34: Canal + journalists were at the LFP HQ tonight and believe that no fax or confirmation of a Juan Mata deal came through.

:23.25: OFFICIAL: Evian have loaned Ajax’s Ilan Boccara with an option to buy. The 20 year old is a defensive midfielder.

:23.19: This feed may have been going for 24 hours now but it is not time to pack it all in just yet! We await to see what French sources have to say about Demba Ba’s supposed move to Arsenal, whether or not Juan Mata managed to sign for PSG and Sochaux who are expected to announce another signing shortly. DON’T GO ANYWHERE.

:23.15: INFO GFFN Sochaux have been able to retain the services of Sebastien Corchia as Marseille failed to push the move through in time. They will look to sign Anthony Reveillere in the coming days.

23.10: Marseille have sold Raffi Abdullah to Lorient who agrees a 3 year contract and Larry Azouni joins him but on loan for the season with an option to buy. Marseille have sacrificed a lot there for a fairly unproven player in Mario Lemina.

23.06: Marseille have announced the signing of Mario Lemina from Lorient for the second time this evening after they retracted their statement for reasons that are not entirely clear.

23.01: Our friend Jonathan Johnson believes that Mohamed Sissoko’s move to Readig has gone through. We await confirmation.

23.00: THE TRANSFER WINDOW IS CLOSED

22.52: Information just coming in which may explain the Mario Lemina situation. Marseille and Lorient are understood to have discussed two bids, one a €11m offer and the other a €4m offer plus Abdullah. Turns out an error in communication led Lorient to believe they had agreed an €11m deal when Marseille hadn’t. Lorient want the money and not Abdullah!

22.47: Very little time left for PSG to get this deal through for Juan Mata. Player’s whereabouts are currently unknown to us. Fee must be agreed in the next seconds.

22.44: According to our friends at France Football, Demba Ba is currently undergoing a medical at Arsenal!

22.42: I am told that Bordeaux made a very last minute attempt to sign Ryad Boudebouz tonight.

22.35: Very strangely is the fact that Marseille have pulled the article confirming the signing of Mario Lemina from their website.

In other news, La Provence are reporting that the Marco Lemina deal is actually only €4m plus the loan deal of youngster Raffi Abdullah. Plot thickens.

22.32: Meanwhile Nancy have run out of time to try and complete the loan signing of Kamel Ghilas. No deal.

22.31: Info GFFN: At least one more signing in for Sochaux today, if not two.

22.24: The BBC have confirmed our exclusive information from 6 hours ago that Juan Mata has agreed to leave Chelsea for PSG! The clubs must still agree a fee.

Meanwhile, Mario Lemina’s transfer to Marseille is a massive €11m from Lorient. You can see why Fery took the offer. Christian Gourcuff, the Lorient manager has dismissed reports that he will resign.

22.20: DONE DEAL: Ryad Boudebouz has completed a 3 year deal to SC Bastia for a fee of just over €1m. Should be official soon.

22.14: Marseille have officially announced the transfer of Mario Lemina the defensive midfielder from Lorient! He signs a 5 year deal with the club and the details of the transfer will come. Christian Gourcuff, the Lorient manager: ‘We cannot keep selling our best players for economical reasons and expect to remain competitive.’

22.12: BeIN Sport announce the transfer of Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid to Arsenal for €45m. PSG officially miss out.

22.07: Sources in France believe that Arsenal and Chelsea are still negotiating for Demba Ba and the player is currently praying a mosque according to our friend Nabil Djelit.

22.04: Ouest France are suggesting that Christian Gourcuff might walk out on Lorient if they proceed with the sale of Lemina to Marseille!

22.02: Sports Mediaset are linking Catania’s Maxi Lopez with Lyon after Parma ran out of time to close the move as the Italian market closed 2 minutes ago.

21.59: La Sexta believe that Jose Mourinho has okayed a Juan Mata transfer to PSG. Clubs must agree a fee and they don’t have much time left! Surely not?

21.54: Infosport have announced that PSG are very close to signing Juan Mata. They claim the player has given the okay for the move! Wow.

21.52: According to the reliably informed Steve Wyss, Newcastle failed to push through a deal for Ngolo Kante because the Magpies did not reach Caen’s evaluation of €4m. They had two bids rejected worth €2m and then €2.75m. Kante incidentally had a man of the match performance this evening.

21.47: According to our friend Nabil Djelit, Faouzi Ghoulam will remain a Saint Etienne player this window.

21.45: According to L’Equipe journalist Bliel Ghazi, despite being offered to Bordeaux, Maxi Lopez of Catania will sign for Parma this evening.

21.39: L’Equipe are reporting that Saint Etienne Faouzi Ghoulam is expected to complete a move to Sevilla tonight. Has come relatively out of nowhere that one.

21.37: Infosport + believes that Sebastien Corchia will be the next signing Marseille will be able to announce. We personally don’t expect anything for the next hour from OM.

21.31: So Thauvin finally seals his ‘dream’ move to Marseille. Maybe next year he will have another dream? Anyway the winners of today so far are SC Bastia who have managed to hold on to Wahbi Khazri but are also going to sign Boudebouz according to our source at Sochaux HQ.

Like Gomis, Briand has been playing in the CFA and Lyon have wanted to get rid of him. An enquiry from West Brom is the furthest interest has got, however.

10:35: There are unconfirmed reports circulating on twitter at the moment that Shinji Kagawa has been seen at Manchester Airport on his way to Paris. 09.13: Mamadou Sakho talks:

With the team we have, and the means put at the disposal of the players, the technical support and the whole club and its supporters are in a good position to get there. This is our objective.

“With regards to the history of Liverpool, the thing that struck me most was the victory in the Champions League final when I was very young. I don’t remember how old I was but I was very young and I remember this fantastic event, which always impressed me.

“I hope to create a new piece of history with our supporters at Anfield.”

‘My aim is to play Champions League football with Liverpool.’

“In a large club, having competition is something you expect. To get the best out of any player, you need to have competition.

“Competition doesn’t give me any worries. Competition makes the team grow and makes the club grow because that’s the objective and the goal of everyone here.

“I’ve been at Melwood for a day and it’s very good. The training areas are impressive and everything is in place for the players to keep in top condition.

“Everything is adapted for professional sports-people and it really gives a good image of a club like Liverpool.”

09.09: Mamadou Sakho talks! ‘I came here because the project at Liverpool interests me. I’m looking forward to playing my first game.’

09.07: What are your thoughts in Mamadou Sakho signing for Liverpool? Have PSG made a huge mistake in letting him go?

[tweet https://twitter.com/scotty2smithy/status/374442836667531264]

09.05: We can confirm the following:

[tweet https://twitter.com/meatmansoccer/status/374442634313342976]

09.03: OFFICIAL: Liverpool confirm the signing of Mamadou Sakho:

Sakho

08.59: Monaco’s defender Gary Kagelmacher has confirmed via Twitter that he is in transit to sign with a new club by the end of the day. Expected to be Valenciennes. Working on confirmation for this.

[tweet https://twitter.com/GaryKagelmacher/status/374441096388308992]

08.55: A bit of a gap in news at the moment, but let’s have a look at the details of a transfer which will undoubtedly go through today, that of Mamadou Sakho to Liverpool. The player will sign for an overall fee of €23m, but that is including bonuses. Our understanding is he will also earn €400k a month.

08.45: Get French Football News (that’s us) can confirm that Catania are currently negotiating a loan deal for Bordeaux captain Jaroslav Plasil. Slap in the face that for Girondins if they lose him.

08.40: Another PSG target may have just become available again. Marca are reporting this morning that Mesut Ozil has rejected the chance to sign for Arsenal and after L’Equipe’s reports this morning that the Ligue 1 Champions have been in contact with the Spanish club for Ozil last week, will PSG retry?

08.37: British tabloids announce that PSG will make a late bid to try and sign Shinji Kagawa. Probably too little too late and not exactly the position where PSG are looking to strengthen most. Seems unlikely but hey, it’s deadline day, anything can happen!

08.35: Ouest-France understand that Saint Etienne’s Banel Nicolita is 50/50 to sign for Nantes by the end of the day.

08.28: DONE DEAL: Rennes have loaned 21 year old attacker Cheick Diarra to Istres for the season without an option to buy.

08.22: So some details to the Florian Thauvin deal. €14m plus bonuses of €1m as well as a €3m fixed sell on clause. The player in terms of wages is expected to earn 40% more than he did at Lille without even playing a game for Les Dogues. Quite remarkable really, quite remarkable.

08.18: A happy sounding Lille fan this morning, optimistic of a good transfer deadline day:

[tweet https://twitter.com/Gibney_A/status/374391217737695232]

08.16: Le Parisien also believe that Mohamed Sissoko is still a late target for QPR and Everton.

08.08: Liverpool remain in the race to sign Andre Ayew, but Newcastle will sign the player of Yohan Cabaye moves to Arsenal according to Raphael Raymond of L’Equipe.

08.05: So, an agreement has been reached last night for the sale of Florian Thauvin to Marseille from Lille for a fee of €15m overall. Contract talks begun last night between Marseille and Thauvin and the player is expected to arrive at lunchtime for a medical.

08.03: Welcome one and all, I’ll kick off with some news from the French papers this morning, but first an update on Florian Thauvin…

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

08.00: And with that I seamlessly hand over to editor-in-chief, Christian Nourry who will be taking you through the next few hours as deadline day really starts to take shape.

07:45: BIG NEWS: According to L’Equipe, Marseille and Lille have come to an agreement over Florient Thauvin. The price they have allegedly agreed on is €15 million, and they hope that the deal will be completed on Monday afternoon.

07:35: Audel to Nantes?: Nantes want 29 year old striker Johan Audel to terminate his contract with German side Stuttgart to sign him on a free after the club were impressed by the striker. Nantes are hopeful that the deal will be done in time today.

07:30: Close: GFC Ajaccio are close to reaching an agreement to sign central defender Mattieu Sans.

07:27: DONE DEAL: Mbaye Diagne will be loaned from Italian champions Juventus to Ligue 1 side Ajaccio. The deal for the 22 year old is subject to a medical.

07:20: Brest look for striker: After the injury to striker Jonathan Ayité, Brest are looking for a striker to fill in, and they hope to complete the loan signing of Mohamed Yattara from Lyon. However, they will need to sell a player first and it is possible that Johan Martial will be on his way out, following interest from Italy and the Netherlands.

07:15: DONE DEAL: David Henen has been loaned to Monaco. We understand that the loan deal also has an option to buy written into it.

07:10: Kagelmacher to Valenciennes: As we reported earlier, Gary Kagelmacher is set to join Valenciennes on loan from Monaco. We can now confirm that there is a loan offer on the table without an option to buy.

07:05: Bid for Gomis: Saint-Etienne have made a swap offer of midfielder Romain Hamouma plus a sum of cash of Lyon striker Bafetimbi Gomis according to L’Equipe. The offer was swiftly rejected and although Gomis could still move it is very, very unlikely so late in the window.

06:55: Thauvin replacement: We, at Get French Football News, understand that if and when Florient Thauvin departs from Lille, they will look to sign another attacking midfielder in the form of Paul George Ntep. Ntep was quoted as saying: ‘Ligue 1 is an interesting challenge, which is attractive. If offers are presented, it would be interesting, but it depends on the club.’ More on these developments as we get them.

06:48: BIG NEWS: According to the chief editor of L’Equipe, Joel Domenighetti, if Yohan Cabaye leaves Newcastle, the Magpies will then go on to sign Marseille winger Andre Ayew for close to €8 million plus bonuses! More on this story as we get it, so stay tuned.

06:40: L’Equipe claim that Italian club Torino are most likely to sign Sebastian Corchia from Sochaux on a loan deal with an option to buy. Corchia was quoted saying: ‘ “This is a club with good depth and has a good group with a good project. Yes, I want to go there.’

06:00: Marseille right-back Kassim Abdallah also appears to be moving on the last day of the transfer window. The French-born player has made just 10 appearances for Les Marseillas.

05:35: Two Monaco defenders leaving? (2/2) Another of Monaco’s 25 year old defenders, Georgios Tzavellas, will sign for PAOK Salonika today. We, Get French Football News, understand that the Greek left-back has been at the club all week to finalise a move. It is likely to be a loan but we cannot yet confirm this.

05:20: Two Monaco defenders leaving? (1/2) Gary Kagelmacher will leave Monaco within the next 24 hours. He was heavily linked with Nice but L’Equipe suggest that the 25 year old centre back could now instead be on his way to fellow Ligue 1 side Valenciennes. This transfer will continue throughout the day, so there will be more as we get it.

03:15: That is all from me, James Martland, for now. I shall be on later in the day and I hope I have kept you in the know on some of the biggest deals in French football today. I shall hand over to Charles Stone who should be coming along soon.

03:00: FLASH: Bolton Frenchman in talks with Swansea: We, Get French Football News, understand that Bolton’s French forward and Ex-Liverpool man David N’Gog is in talks with Premier League side Swansea over a possible move to become the Welsh team’s second striker. Whether a fee is agreed with Bolton or not is unknown at this stage. More as we have it.

02:55: Cabaye Update: Right. I feel it is time for an update on the future of Yohan Cabaye and to be honest, there isn’t much to say. What is known is the PSG will now not put a bid in for the player according to L’Equipe, but the player would like to leave Newcastle for Arsenal. What is not known at this stage, however, is if there is a bid on the table for the player currently. Arsenal have had at least two bids rejected for the Frenchman and it is speculated that Newcastle are unwilling to sell to another Premier League club. The situation is complicated therefore, but also easily resolved. If Arsenal come in with an offer of £20 million plus, they are very likely to get their man. As Joe Kinnear has said, “The ball is in their court.” Only time will tell if they do.

02:40: Nice want two players, but no Bodmer: We are aware that OGC Nice are looking at bringing in two names today after a lacklustre start to the season and we believe these additions are wanted to play in defence and as a striker. The main man linked with Nice these last few weeks has been Mathieu Bodmer, but if our information is correct, this would rule out a move for the midfielder. As a centre back, Nice remain interested in Porto B’s Sengalese international Abdoulaye Ba who at 22 is seen as a possible long-term replacement for Renato Civelli

02:30: Our exclusives come true as St Etienne sign Erding and Mollo: We would like to take this moment to point out to you two of our exclusive which were proved right today. Mevlut Erding and Yohan Mollo have signed for St Etienne, the latter on a loan deal, as we told you would happen this summer. St Etienne, as already mentioned are on the look out for another striker. Bafetimbi Gomis has been linked, but surely Les Verts can’t afford him?

02:25: 3 arrivals wanted at Valenciennes: We understand that the Ligue 1 side are in want of three new faces today after a mass exodus of their best players in the last 6 months. 2 defenders are wanted and it is suspected that Valenciennnes might dive into Ligue 2 as this is the best way to spend their limited finances.

02:20: Nancy man expected to join Sochaux today: 25 year old winger Lossémy Karaboué is expected to join Ligue 1 outfit Sochaux today and could be a replacement for Ryad Boudebouz we believe. Sochaux made an improved offer from the Ex-Sedan man yesterday after their first bid was rejected and this time, a deal is expected to be struck.

02:14: Another Bordeaux man leaving?: midfielder Jaroslav Plasil is in advanced negotiations with Catania according to Sky Italy. We have no confirmation of this.

01:57: EXCLU: Polish international is a wanted man. The transfer of Ludovic Obraniak could go down to the wire. We understand Bordeaux have received a bid from an unknown club tonight. Obraniak has already turned down 2 Russian clubs, one was Lokomotiv Moscow.

01:50: Park Chu Young not heading to St Etienne?: St Etienne want to bring in one more striker before the window closes! Park Chu Young is mentioned but this loan move does seem unlikely as he appears to be closer to Lorient at the moment than Les Verts. We understand that St Etienne are lining up a move for a striker, but we do not have the name at this stage. More as we have it.

01:44: Kleber coming to Ligue 1? Eurosport believe that Porto forward Kleber is in talks with both Rennes and Bastia. This is unconfirmed by us at this stage. Rennes have been busy this week with the likes of Foued Kadir, Cheikh M’Bengue, Emerson and Romero all coming in. They do need a striker, however, after selling Mevlut Erding.

01:34: Arsenal have not taken up offer on Kalou as yet: After being offered Salomon Kalou at the beginning of the week by Lille, who are looking to cut their wages, We can confirm that Arsenal have not entered into negotiations for the player as they see him as a third or fourth option if other targets do not come off. With the news that Mesut Ozil could be on his way to the Emirates, however, it makes a move for the Ivory Coast international even less likely. The player has already rejected a move to West Ham this window

01:25: Another two able to leave Monaco: We understand that Gary Coulibaly and Jacob Poulsen have been allowed to find new clubs so that they can leave Monaco. After the injection of new stars at the club, these two are unable to get a game and have been told to move on. Coulibaly went on trial at Sheffield Wednesday earlier in the Summer, but was unable to agree terms for a deal to the British side.

01:14: The longest saga has the flattest ending: You could have written a series of novels about the twists and turns of the Bafetimbi Gomis transfer saga this summer and they would have been fairly enjoyable. Nevertheless, they look like they will have a poor ending as President Aulas has admitted that the player needs to be brought back into the first team and despite Gomis agreeing to lower wage demands to leave, there have been no new bids for him.

01:09: Khazri to Lyon off the cards?:: Wahbi Khazri is looking less and less likely to join Lyon, we understand, but is closer to a move to Rudi Garcia’s Roma. It is by no means a done deal though as Khazri is seeking guarantees from the Italian club that he will get regular first team football. Lyon still want the player as well and there is still a small possibility that they could get him. Meanwhile, we can confirm that Lyon have given up on Henri Saivet.

01:01: West Ham could still sign Sane: We understand that there is still a possibility that Lamine Sane joins West Ham. The Bordeaux man has been a long term target for the Hammers for the whole of this market and before and has even come to England to visit West Ham’s training facilities this summer. Bordeaux need to bring a replacement if they are going to let Sane go, however, and this is what is holding the move up.

00:58: Suarez in Ligue 1?: We can confirm that Jeffren Suárez of Sporting CP has been offered to both Nantes and Sochaux

00:36: BREAKING: Loan offer for Corchia?: According to French reports, Sochaux have received a loan offer from Torino for highly rated right back Sebastien Corchia. Details below: [tweet https://twitter.com/sochauxusa/status/374314089918783488]

00:20: Palace search for defender in the French market: After all that drama, which I am sure will continue to develop during the day, lets have some Crystal Palace news: Palace remain in the market for a defender and are looking to France, or somebody French, to solve their problems. After a bid was rejected for Valenciennes’ Lindsay Rose, however, Crystal Palace are unlikely to return to him, we understand. William Gallas remains their main target and Jean-Armel Kana-Biyak remains in the frame after Crystal Palace have been in talks about him for the past two weeks. Rennes have also signed Emerson who could possibly be his replacement.

00:00: BIG NEWS: Prem clubs move for Thauvin?!: According to L’Equipe, Liverpool have made a €10 million offer for Florian Thauvin, which has been rejected. We are also able to confirm this news ourselves. Liverpool are already set to bring in three players tomorrow, but have made a move for the French youngster who wants to leave Lille. We understand, however, that the player’s heart remains set on Marseille.

L’Equipe also report that both Arsenal and Newcastle have had €12 million offers rejected for Thauvin as they are well below Lille’s evaluation for the player. Both clubs made contact with Bastia at Christmas regarding signing the player, but he opted for Lille instead: a move he is now beginning to regret. We are unable to confirm these reports at this time.

00:00: Thauvin fee agreed?: L’Equipe say that Marseille have now made a €15 million offer for Florian Thauvin, which has been accepted. This would back up our reports that the player is now in contractual discussions with OM, but unfortunately, we are unable to confirm these reports at this stage. If true, however, Thauvin will almost certainly become a Marseille player as it will not take long to wrap up a contract with his dream club.

23:50pm: Blanc blank on the last day!: According to L’Equipe, there will be no movement from PSG on the final day of the transfer market, which would bring an end to the pursuit of Newcastle Frenchman Yohan Cabaye. Whether this also involves players leaving the club is unknown. The champions still have a lot of players that they need to shift, for example Mathieu Bodmer, who remains linked with Nice.

23:39pm: Wolf on his way out: 32 year old Russian defender Andreas Wolf looks to be on his way out of Monaco as he is no longer in the club’s plans. The ex-Bremen man has received interest from unknown clubs in the top two German divisions and Monaco are willing to listen to any offers.

23:32pm: EXCLU: Inter Milan in bid for Boudebouz: We, Get French Football News understand that Italian giants Inter Milan have made a late bid for Sochaux midfielder Ryad Boudebouz. Bastia are also another club in talks over the Algerian international and whilst a fee is not agreed for him, they have been given permission to talk to the player. We understand, however, that Boudebouz is not too keen on a move to Bastia, however, but is allowed to leave the club. We shall have to wait and see what happens.

23:20pm: DONE DEAL: Morgan Amalfitano joins West Brom for a season: We understand that after talks with Steve Clarke this afternoon, Morgan Amalfitano will now join West Brom from Marseille on a season long loan. The midfielder is no longer in Marseille’s plans this season as they reign in the signing of Florian Thauvin which we believe could be completed by lunch. Thauvin has begun contract talks with Marseille ahead of a possible move. Arsenal and Newcastle have not put in bids for the player.

23:08pm:FLASH: CLOSE: Marseille close in on Thauvin: L’Equipe report in tomorrow’s paper that Florian Thauvin is almost a Marseille player. Talks continued today between the two parties and according to the French paper, they have gone well. As we have said all along, Lille will be forced to sell the player before the window closes and so one would expect that this deal is wrapped up by the end of the day.

23:04pm: Jordan Ayew to spend season at Bastia?: We understand that Bastia are close to a loan deal for Jordan Ayew. The Marseille forward wants to be loaned out so that he can receive first team football, but OM are having second thoughts about whether they want to loan the player out. All should become clear tomorrow (or today in France).

23:00pm: PSG to miss out on Ozil: As reported to you earlier in the day by us on twitter, Mesut Ozil is now very unlikely to join PSG. The German international is expected to leave Real Madrid after the arrival of Gareth Bale, but the French club no longer looks a possible destination. Spanish press are reporting that he has chosen Arsenal as his preferred future side and Sky Sports now claim that the London club are in advanced talks for the player. We shall wait and see if Arsenal can pull off this coup, but of course we are no longer involved in this transfer as it is now not French football related.

23.00pm: Monaco rejected a bid for one of their new signings!: Some Monaco news coming into us straight away. We understand that the big spenders have rejected an €8 million bid from Juventus for Anthony Martial. The 17 year old Frenchman has only just been signed by Monaco from Lyon earlier on in this window for €5 million and we understand the he is rated very highly by the Monaco staff who are unwilling to let him go. Whether Juventus will make an improved offer is unknown.
