Adrien Rabiot extends deal until 2019 with PSG

In a surprising turnaround in events, PSG announced the contract extension of talented central midfielder Adrien Rabiot today until 2019.

The player had been touted with a departure last summer, with AS Roma and Arsenal having been in talks, but has now committed his long term future to the club despite it appearing on the outside that his relationship with the capital side had broken down.

The player had the following to say:

“I am very happy to remain a PSG player, the club that made me the player I am today. I would like to thank the president who kept discussions open in recent months & the sporting management for their support. It was here at PSG that I grew up & enjoyed my first experiences. The club’s project is ambitious, I’m proud to be a part of it. Now I want to concentrate on my football, on my game and give my best for PSG on the pitch and for the supporters.”

His previous deal was due to run out next summer.

The club President Nasser Al Khelaifi added:

“I am delighted with the contract extension of Adrien Rabiot with PSG, for 4 more seasons from June 2015. Adrien grew up here & I’m convinced we will live some great footballing experiences. He is one of best players of tomorrow. It was very important for PSG that a young French player, with Adrien’s talent, remained a member of the PSG family. I know that Adrien’s family shares his joy at being a part of PSG.”
