Alexandre Lacazette’s agent spoke with our colleagues at Le Parisien this morning in an attempt to clarify his client’s transfer situation, amid mounting speculation that Newcastle are interested in the player.
Alexandre Lacazette had the following to say recently:
“To be considered as a part of Lyon, is something that is both interesting and good. All professional players want to have responsibilities at the heart of the club. If I can continue to progress and achieve my objectives with Lyon… but we never know what is going to happen. Is there a danger of me leaving too early? In life, you have to take risks. To leave too early, or too late, at one point or another, you have to leave. One will see afterward whether the moment was good or not.”
David Venditelli, the player’s agent, moved to quash speculation of a Newcastle departure, but confirmed English interest:
“Some English clubs are rushing to the scene. If Alexandre leaves, it will be for a team that plays in the Champions League, or at least a team who is very close to being there.”
Contract extension talks continue but the salary which the player is demanding, worth about €200k per month, is the same current wage that club captain Maxime Gonalons is receiving.
Get French Football News has been informed that both Newcastle United and Liverpool have made approaches, but that Everton have made the most recent, concrete approach.
