Blaise Matuidi and Thiago Motta agree to PSG contract extensions

PSG midfield pair Blaise Matuidi and Thiago Motta have agreed to pen contract extensions with the Ligue 1 champions, announced President Nasser Al Khelaifi today during a press conference in Doha.

The former player has been the subject of much tabloid media speculation about his future, after a legal dispute between his current and former agents put a stumbling block in front of attempted negotiations beforehand. Blaise Matuidi has become an integral part of the PSG setup and his future was never actually in doubt.

Thiago Motta’s agent had already announced last month that his client would sign a new deal with Al Khelaifi hinting ‘we could see Motta see out his career, but ask him that’.

Al Khelaifi also added that he hopes to retain the services of the often sulking attacker Jeremy Menez, who has heavily been linked with a move away from the club towards Juventus. He has yet to prolong his contract and Al Khelaifi said he ‘hope[s] to keep him. He has great quality.

Another interesting statement from the PSG President was his insistence that Les Parisiens ‘are not looking to sign anybody at the moment. We do not need any new players.’

This stance may however quickly change, with Juan Mata’s situation at Chelsea ever-deteriorating.
