AS Cannes were informed on Thursday that their appeal to the DNCG to save the club from liquidation was rejected and the club’s fate was sealed.
Cannes’ town hall has pointed some of the blame at former player and PSG manager Luis Fernandez who apparently knew little of the situation and decided not to offer up €100,000 to save the club despite make comments on his RMC show Luis Attaque suggesting that he would do so.
A spokesman for the Cannes Mayor had the following to say to Nice Matin:
“Fernandez preferred to wait until the fate of AS Cannes is sealed.”
