Cichero agrees to leave Nantes for Sion

Get French Football News reported earlier today that Nantes had agree to let defender Gabriel Cichero leave to Swiss club FC Sion on a 6 month loan. The Venezuelan international, who had arrived at the club only last season, was starved of playing time in the current season and decided that it was best for his career if he moved onto a different club, and indeed another country altogether.

Cichero has never been the most loyal of players, having already played for 6 clubs, including Nantes, before his move to Sion. This season, he was not really getting a looking for the high-flying promoted team, having started just 4 league games all season. The partnership of Djilobodji and Vizcarrondo was good enough to almost exclusively keep Cichero out of the squad, and both he and Nantes agreed that it was time to move on.

Having played a major role in Nantes’ promotion from Ligue 2 last season, playing 31 of the 38 league games, Cichero would have come into this season hoping to secure a starting spot at the highest level in French football. However, things did not go to plan, and Switzerland is the next destination for this ever on-the-move player.
