Didier Deschamps’ Press Conference: The Highlights (6/11/14)

Didier Deschamps gave a press conference following his squad announcement for the French national team’s games against Albania and Sweden.

On Stephane Ruffier’s absence: “Ruffier needs a period of rest. He has a muscular problem.”

On Karim Benzema: “It is a privilege to have Karim Benzema in this team. He is a very important player for Real and for us too. Benzema is unfairly criticised in France. Karim Benzema deserves to be on the podium for the Ballon D’Or, he is one of the best performing attackers in 2014.”

On Alexandre Lacazette and Andre Pierre Gignac: “Between Lacazette and Gignac, there is no number two. Were have four attackers.”

On Yohan Cabaye: “Cabaye is getting game time, competition is important but I do not question that (how much game time Cabaye receives at PSG).”

On Paul Pogba: “Pogba can play in four different midfield positions, but I do not think that number 10 is his best position.”

On Willy Sagnol’s Africa rant: “There is a lot of media coverage surrounding the Sagnol affair. I will not become part of the reactions.”
