Edinson Cavani doesn’t rule out departure

PSG striker Edinson Cavani did not rule out leaving the club in an interview with Téléfoot today.

On appearing unhappy…

“This is down to journalists (on claims he is unhappy). I have never been a very smiley player on the pitch so you can think that I am not happy maybe. “Cavani is not happy because he is playing at a different position.” Each person has their own view, but to talk about me being sad or other problems, it has never been the case.”

On his future…

“I am good at Paris. And I like it. In football we never know what is going to happen the next season, or the next day. There are lots of things that could happen in a club.”

On Nasser Al Khelaifi…

“It is true that throughout my career I have never seen a President as close to his players. The President Nasser has close relationships with us. More than a President, he is a friend. He is very much rooting for us. A great professional and a great man.”

On his celebration…

“It is a gesture I make because my nickname is “El Matador”. I have done it in other games and I have never been pulled up. I will never change it, that is sure.”

On his position…

“Playing down the sides, it is more difficult for me. But the most important thing is that everyone in the team can stick together and help out. But it is also normal that I want to play down the middle, because in the previous years that is where I played.”

On a 4-4-2 formation…

“I think that it what we should have played when I arrived. That is what we imagined, that is what we thought to play like that. But lots of things change in a club, it happens, certain decisions are made and it changes things.”

On his relationship status…

“I am single because I am not married, but I have a girlfriend.”

On whether he will cut his hair…

“But I just cut them, they are shorter no?”
