Get French Football News understands that Edinson Cavani and Ezequiel Lavezzi are both scheduled to speak to their club Paris Saint Germain about their respective futures shortly.
According to our colleagues at Mercato 365, Laurent Blanc, the PSG manager, appreciates Ezequiel Lavezzi and has ensured that the Argentinian speaks with the club’s representatives to speak about a possible contract extension, even though his current deal runs until 2016.
This is likely to be a measure to ensure that the player is tied down after receiving interest from sides including Galatasaray and Chelsea in recent months.
The second individual who’s future is in doubt is ex-Napoli front man Edinson Cavani, who has struggled to spend the 2013-2014 campaign in the shadow of PSG’s main forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Manchester United have contacted the player’s entourage but have realised that the price that PSG will demand is beyond their means and the Capital club has absolutely no intention of selling their Uruguayan.
The situation is made more difficult by the fact that Edinson Cavani will make certain demands including being played upfront for a certain number of games next season and will seek more assurances in terms of increased first team responsibility, if local reports are to be believed.
Either way, PSG President Nasser Al Khelaifi intends to solve both of these issues by eventually offering both Ezequiel Lavezzi and Edinson Cavani contract extensions with healthy wage rises.
