Hubert Fournier presented as Lyon’s new manager

Lyon held a press conference this afternoon to unveil Remi Garde’s replacement, the former Reims manager Hubert Fournier. Lyon President Jean Michel Aulas and  Director Bernard Lacombe were present alongside Fournier, who signs a 2-year contract with the club.

Fournier had the following to say upon his unveiling as manager:

“I am delighted to be here. I want to first thank the President and M.Lacombe for having confidence in me. Thank you for presenting me with this challenge. The aims are a 19th consecutive qualification for Europe and also to win a trophy. A national cup.”

Fournier confirmed that staff members Gerald Baticle and Bruno Génésio would remain at the club, and that he would be bringing both Michel Audrain and Laurent Bessière with him from Reims.

President Jean Michel Aulas followed up with:

“We chose Fournier because he fitted our general strategy. Hubert was under contract with Reims for another two years, but their President was very fair play. We found an agreement with J-P Caillot to pay them €360k. Thanks to him, he is a man with much quality.”
