Juventus Director: Falcao preferred a move to Italy last summer

Juventus’ Director General Giuseppe Marotta has said that Juventus was Falcao’s preferred destination last summer, in favour of his eventual loan move to Premier League side Manchester United.

Marotta was quoted as saying to RAI: ‘We were very close to Falcao and the player preferred Italy and our colours, but then United came forward and they have much more spending power than we do so the deal broke down.’

Falcao, on loan at Manchester United from Ligue 1 side Monaco, has not quite hit the ground running at his new club. The Colombian has 1 goal from 5 Premier League games, and sat out Chelsea’s visit yesterday due to injury.
