Louis Nicollin to retire at the end of the season

Montpellier President Louis Nicollin has announced that he will be stepping down from his role at the end of the 2014/15 campaign to our colleagues at RTL this lunchtime.

He had the following to say: “I am stopping here, on the day that the club was founded 40 years ago. I will go and see the matches, but I should never do too much this season.”

With the departure of Nicollin, French football is losing one of its most passionate and outspoken figures.

His son Laurent Nicollin is expected to take the President role.
