Man charged after impersonating Chelsea’s Gael Kakuta

A 25 year old man has been charged with fraud after pretending to be Chelsea’s French footballer Gael Kakuta, and trying to buy thousands of pounds’ worth of items using his alter ego.

The impersonator, named as Medi Abalimba, collected a £5,000 bill at a night club in Manchester whilst pretending to be Kakuta, and a few weeks later tried to buy £20,000 worth of clothes.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police had this to say: ‘On 11 August 2014, Medi Abalimba, of Burton Street, London was charged with several credit card fraud offences. He appeared at Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court on the same morning and was remanded into custody.’
