PSG abandon Dani Alves signing

According to French newspaper Le Parisien, PSG have abandoned the idea of signing Barcelona’s right back Dani Alves, after the deal for young Brazilian centre back Marquinhos to go the other way broke down.

According to Le Parisien, Dani Alves’ age (31 years old) and his high wage were the main stumbling blocks in the deal. However, PSG are still keen to recruit a right back, and the paper claims that PSG will turn their attention to AC Milan’s Ignazio Abate, who happens to have the same agent as Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Whilst Abate is still at the World Cup in Brazil, it will be difficult to enter any negotiations, but PSG could press the issue in the coming weeks or months.
