RC Lens barred from Ligue 1 entry

The DNCG, French football’s financial watchdog, has announced its decision to reject Lens’ appeal over their promotion to Ligue 1.

The body has decided that the famous club will remain in Ligue 2 for next season, despite having rightfully earned a promotion spot during the 2013/2014 campaign.

Although their elusive financials are most likely to be the main area of concern, alongside the fact that they do not have a stadium which meets there fit-and-proper test, the DNCG’s full findings have yet to be published, and their official reasoning is currently unknown at the time of writing.

The club is expected to appeal to the CNOSF, who have the power to overrule the DNCG, but this is the last body that Lens can appeal to, otherwise they will have to accept the decision.
