With the end of the season and the transfer window now just around the corner, Get French Football News takes the opportunity to ‘Transfer Zoom’ in on the futures of three key players at OGC Nice, who, as a club, have had an unmemorable season.
Éric Bauthéac:
Les Aiglons have announced this week that they will be building a new, state-of-the-art training and youth excellence centre to be completed in 2016. After the financial efforts they had to make to build their new stadium, the Allianz Riviera, which has been in use since the beginning of this season, OGC Nice are still short of funds.
Selling a player like Éric Bauthéac would go someway to alleviating some of the financial pressures placed upon them.
Clubs in France are unlikely to pounce for Bauthéac unless they lose a key player themselves. This could be the case notably at Montpellier, should Remy Cabella leave the club this summer.
Marseille may also be interested, if they fail to hang on to André Ayew.
According to France Football, a number of Italian sides have been tracking Bauthéac’s progress this season, most notably Lazio and Udinese.
Dario Cvitanich:
This time last season, Les Aiglons were hailing Cvitanich as their saviour, the man who would lead them to a continental football spot for the first time in around 10 years. This season, Cvitanich has cut a forlorn and disinterested figure and has even recently been benched for his poor performances.
His wages are excessive for Les Aiglons and both parties are likely to agree that it is time to go their separate ways when the season ends.
Get French Football News has learnt that the player has interested Boca Juniors who have been in touch with his agents. AS Roma held advanced talks with the player last summer and may yet return for him at the end of this season.
France Football believe that Marseille would be interested in signing the player should Andre Pierre Gignac leave OM.
Didier Digard:
OGC Nice’s captain has no intention of signing a contract extension with the Côte D’Azur club, Get French Football News has learnt. The midfielder’s current deal runs until 2015 and at the age of 27, he has decided that it is time to move on.
Digard’s priority is to return to England this summer, even if Bundesliga side Wolfsburg have sent officials to France to watch him on more than one occasion this season.
AS Saint Étienne are the most likely Ligue 1 club to be able to convince Digard to sign, especially if they’re able to secure continental football for next season. They will need to replace Josuha Guilavogui, who will not be signing for Les Verts permanently this summer.
