Saint Etienne President Romeyer confirms two approaches for Kurt Zouma

St Etienne director Roland Romeyer has confirmed this afternoon that two clubs have approached him over the possible transfer of French starlet Kurt Zouma. One of these clubs is believed to be Monaco after the club and Zouma’s representatives were said to have met before the window had even started. The other club is unknown, but RMC have linked both Chelsea and Inter Milan with the player in recent weeks.

Chelsea did indeed watch the player before his ban after a horror tackle on Sochaux’s Thomas Guerbert, but whether they have taken their interest any further is unknown.

Zouma has many strengths. He is fast, and tends to play the ball out from the back. He has the ability not to panic when in a tight situation; and his ability to pass, rather than hoof the ball, adds a certain amount of calmness to Saint Etienne’s game which often starts off attacking moves right from the back. Kurt does occasionally play the long ball, but these tend to be judged passes, rather than uncontrolled thrashes out of play. The 19 year old certainly has a very bright future ahead of him.

More to follow.
