FIFA announced yesterday that both Paul Pogba and Raphael Varane have been nominated for the prestigious FIFA Young Player of the Tournament award after their performances in Brazil over the last month.
Sergio Romero (former AS Monaco goalkeeper last season) was nominated for best man between the sticks.
Another Monagesque, this time current, James Rodriguez is up for the main award, the Golden Ball for best player of the tournament overall.
Notable omissions include Guillermo Ochoa and David Ospina, who both plied their trade in Ligue 1 last season for Ajaccio and Nice respectively.
