PSG manager Laurent Blanc has announced that new signing Benjamin Stambouli could be in contention to play for Les Parisiens in their forthcoming friendly fixture against Fiorentina on Wednesday.
Blanc confirmed on Sunday that the player would definitively join PSG on Monday afternoon, adding: “once he has finished his medical he will be with the group”. Stambouli is generally being touted as a replacement for the departed Yohan Cabaye, who upped sticks for Crystal Palace after it emerged that his place in the French national team was under threat because of a lack of playing time that he was receiving at PSG. Stambouli, who made a failed move to Tottenham last summer, has been given a lifeline by Laurent Blanc.
A deal was agreed between the two parties for a fee between €8m and €10m, with Stambouli joining on a 5 year contract where he is expected to earn €2.7m a year net. Stambouli was just minutes away from a move to Premier League newcomers Watford last week after agreeing a move in principle, even turning up for a medical before receiving an approach from PSG.
Now that Benjamin Stambouli has joined, PSG can turn their attention to their match against Fiorentina in New Jersey on Wednesday, a match for which you can access the best odds to bet on for English football. PSG’s pre-season has begun swimmingly, after an impressive 3-2 win over Benfica in Toronto on Saturday, with Lucas Digne and Jean-Kevin Augustin both impressing considerably.
