Bomb Alert at German national team hotel in Paris

The German national team were forced to evacuate their hotel in the 16th arrondissement in Paris following a bomb threat.

The German team manager Oliver Bierhoff confirmed as much to Express:

“There was a bomb threat. The hotel has been cordoned off and evacuated.”

The German national team was staying in the Hotel Molitor just on the outskirts of Paris when at around 9:10 am local time the hotel received an anonymous call, detailing a bomb threat.

The local authorities took this threat very seriously and proceeded to evacuate the hotel. The German national team left the hotel on two coaches and it is unclear as to when they might be able to return.

The German national team security officer Hendrik Large Lefert had the following to say on the matter:

“The French police informed us that an anonymous bomb threat has been received. Together with my colleagues, we decided to try to evacuate the hotel at short notice in order to allow them to check all the rooms and function rooms.”

Germany play France at the Stade de France this evening in an international friendly match.
