Tuesday 13th October 2015:
Four individuals including Djibril Cissé are alleged to have been taken into custody by French authorities regarding the possible blackmail of Lyon midfielder Mathieu Valbuena.
The alleged blackmail is believed to have taken place over a sextape of Mathieu Valbuena, which the three other individuals (excluding Cissé) claim to be in possession of. Djibril Cissé is expected to be released and put “out of the question” in terms of his purported role imminently.
The judiciary police in Versailles are in charge of the case.
The other individuals excluding Cissé are alleged to have given the orders to blackmail Mathieu Valbuena, after affirming to be in possession of a sextape that Mathieu Valbuena filmed with his girlfriend. The individual who carried out the order is not Djibril Cissé, who will likely be released in the coming hours.
The former French international was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday morning in Paris, the other three individuals were arrested in Marseille and Creil. The amount that they are alleged to have ask Valbuena for in exchange for the sextape is between €50,000 to €100,000.
Djibril Cissé has been released from police custody, the local prosecutor has confirmed.
