Italian papers are spreading rumours that PSG’s Thiago Motta could leave the French capital this summer, Get French Football News’ Antoine Kornprobst spoke to the player’s agent, Alessandro Canovi, to get a clearer understanding as to what is a stake for the Italian midfielder.
Italian papers say that Thiago Motta wants to talk to PSG about his future at the club. What is the situation?
We have not met PSG representatives yet. When that happens, we will see what we will do. I think and I hope that we will know more this week.
Have you already planned a meeting with PSG executives?
Not yet, we will plan it in the coming days. They are currently in Doha with Mino Raiola as far as I know so we are waiting them to come back to France to plan everything.
Do you personally necessarily want Thiago Motta to stay here in Paris and honour his contract?
I don’t. Yes, there is one year remaining on his contract with PSG but we will see what we can do during the negotiations.
Do you want PSG to submit a contract extension?
It is not about that at all. What interests me is PSG’s plans for Thiago. We want to know what the PSG representatives really think about him. We are glad that PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaïfi claims he is a key player for the club but we want them to tell us what they really think about him before we discuss. But you know, like a wedding which only concerns two people, this is only about PSG and Thiago. He is my client so he decides as he wants. He will decide what is going to happen.
If Inter Milan make a better offer than PSG, would you consider it?
This is definitely not a question of offers. Inter Milan is not the only club interested in Thiago Motta. As I said, we want first to be sure that PSG still see it fit to continue with Thiago. Then, we will discuss everything else. I want to remind you something: Thiago Motta is the only player who accepted a lower wage when he joined PSG from Italy. This is not about money. Thiago is not like that. This really is about the project that PSG have in mind for us.
