FIFA Ethics Committee wants life ban for Michel Platini

According to Libération, the investigatory chamber of the FIFA Ethics Committee has recommended that Michel Platini is banned for life from all FIFA activities.

The investigatory chamber of the committee presented its report to the decision chamber this weekend and within this report, they recommended that Platini is banned for life.

They have been investigating Michel Platini in relation to a 1.8 million Euro payment in 2011 that he received supposedly for services to FIFA from 1999 to 2002.

Speculation has been rife in terms of what punishment Platini might receive, with initial murmurings suggesting that he would be hit with either a 5 or 6 year ban. However, according to the report, the head of the investigation, Vanessa Allard, fully recommends a life ban for Platini.

This latest development surely excludes Platini from having any chance of presenting his candidacy for the forthcoming FIFA presidential elections in February 2016.
