AS Monaco’s French international Geoffrey Kondogbia is one of the most sought after player’s on the summer transfer market at present, with news from Sky Italia last night indicating that Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger has held talks with Kondogbia over a possible move.
So if Arsenal are back in the race for the player, who Monaco have demanded €30m for excluding bonuses, where does that leave the rest of the pack?
AC Milan and Inter Milan have in recent days turned their attention to Marseille’s Giannelli Imbula because of Monaco’s asking price but also Arsenal’s reentry into the race. Neither of the two Italian sides has given up however, and continue to actively pursue the player and negotiate with AS Monaco.
Another Italian side, Juventus, have also made a concrete approach for the player who they will look to replace Paul Pogba with if the latter decides to quit the Serie A champions this summer.
Manchester City could yet surprise all of the aforementioned clubs with an offer for Kondogbia, who have sounded out the player’s entourage, but have yet to partake in formal discussions with AS Monaco, according to L’Équipe. Kondogbia the prize, the hunt is well underway.
