Goal-line technology coming to Ligue 1 next season

In a press release from the LFP, the body in charge of French professional league football, LFP President Frederic Thiriez has announced that goal-line technology will be introduced into Ligue 1 next season.

The announcement comes after a difficult week for Thiriez who is embroiled in a scandal following last Saturday’s Coupe de la Ligue final when he refused to enter onto the Stade de France pitch to shake hands with the SC Bastia players following PSG’s victory.

Bordeaux President Jean Louis Tiraud has hit out against this announcement, suggesting that the high costs involved with running goal-line technology are an irresponsible allocation of resources.
