RMC are reporting this evening that Marseille’s defender Jérémy Morel is closing in on a move to bitter rivals Lyon.
Morel, whose contract expires next month, has received a contract extension offer from Marseille as well as concrete proposals from Lille and Lyon. The key factor in why he is currently swayed by Lyon’s offer is the prospect of playing Champions League football.
He is believed to have rejected Lille’s proposal out of hand. Lyon moved for Morel when it became clear that primary target Jordan Amavi of Nice was not going to be let go without an offer in the region of at least €8m.
Morel is scheduled to have a medical with Lyon at the beginning of next week ahead of signing a three year deal with Les Gones, whom he will join on a free transfer. More undoubtedly to follow shortly.
